Kansas City
2-13
VS

3-11-1

Television
CBS (KCTV-5 in Kansas City) will broadcast the game to a regional audience. Bill Macatee calls the action, while former NFL quarterback Steve Beuerlein provides color commentary.

Radio
Eight-time Kansas Broadcaster of the Year, Mitch Holthus, is in his 15th year handling the play-by-play duties. Holthus is a 2008 inductee in the Kansas Association of Broadcasters Hall of Fame. Pro Football Hall of Fame QB Len Dawson adds color commentary with sideline reports from former Chiefs Pro Bowl long snapper Kendall Gammon. The KCFX pregame show begins at 8:30 AM (CT).

The Match-Up
The Chiefs and Bengals will both conclude their 2008 regular season schedules as Kansas City visits Cincinnati on Sunday. The Chiefs will make just their second-ever appearance at Paul Brown Stadium, a locale where the Bengals have registered two of their three victories this season. This week’s contest will mark just Kansas City’s third trip to Cincinnati since ‘87. It’s been 24 seasons since Kansas City last claimed a victory in the Queen City when the Chiefs registered a 27-22 victory at Riverfront Stadium (9/9/84).

Kansas City enters this week’s contest seeking to secure its third victory of the season after suffering a 38-31 loss vs. Miami (12/21). That setback marked the eighth time this season the Chiefs have lost a contest decided by seven points or less. Meanwhile, Cincinnati has constructed back-to-back wins after posting a 14-0 victory at Cleveland (12/21) and will be seeking its first three-game winning streak since 2006. The Bengals haven’t won three straight games to end a season since ‘97.

A pair of familiar sideline adversaries will square off in this contest. Chiefs head coach Herm Edwards began his NFL coaching career as a recipient of the NFL’s Minority Coaching Fellowship with Kansas City in ‘89, while Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis worked in a similar capacity with the Chiefs in ‘91. Both coaches received those opportunities courtesy of Chiefs President Carl Peterson, who will conclude his 20-year association with Kansas City’s NFL franchise after this game.

The Chiefs boast a pair of players on the AFC Pro Bowl roster. G Brian Waters earned his fourth invitation to Hawaii, while TE Tony Gonzalez will be making his 10th consecutive appearance in the NFL’s All-Star Game. Gonzalez is the only tight end in league history with four 1,000-yard campaigns and needs just nine more receptions to register the second 100-catch season of his illustrious career. WR Dwayne Bowe is poised to become the eighth pass catcher in franchise history to post a 1,000-yard season, needing just 81 more yards to accomplish that feat after posting 995 yards as a rookie in 2007. If both Gonzalez and Bowe both top the 1,000-yard mark, it would mark just the third 1,000-yard receiving duo in a season in Chiefs history.

2008 Kansas City Chiefs
Kansas City’s 2008 draft featured two fi rst-round selections: DT Glenn Dorsey (D1a-08) and T Branden Albert (D1b-08), who have started a combined 29 games this season. Albert’s lone missed start was at Carolina (10/5) due to an elbow injury.

Rookie CBs Brandon Flowers (D2-08) and Brandon Carr (D5-08) each have a pair of INTs. Rookie nickel CB Maurice Leggett had a 67-yard fumble return TD at Oakland (11/30) and had a 27-yard INT return TD at Denver (12/7). Third-year performers S Bernard Pollard (D2-06) and S Jarrad Page (D7-06) pair with rookie S DaJuan Morgan (D3c-08) and veteran S Jon McGraw. DE Tamba Hali (D1-06) tied a career high with 2.0 sacks vs. SD (12/14). Former Texans fi rst-round pick DE Jason Babin and DE Alfonso Boone have replaced an injured DE Turk McBride (D2-07). LB Derrick Johnson (D1-05) was named AFC Defensive POW vs. Denver (9/28). KC’s LB corps also includes Demorrio Williams (UFAATL) and Rocky Boiman.

QBs Brodie Croyle (D3-06) and Damon Huard are both on IR. Second-year QB Tyler Thigpen registered his initial NFL victory at Oakland (11/30). RB Larry Johnson had 198 yards vs. Denver (9/28), while RB Jamaal Charles (D3-08) had 106 rushing yards vs. TB (11/2) and 102 receiving yards vs. MIA (12/21). Ten-time Pro Bowl TE Tony Gonzalez (D1-97) extended his NFL TE record with his 26th career 100-yard game at Oakland (11/30). Four-time Pro Bowl G Brian Waters anchors the Chiefs offensive front.

P Dustin Colquitt (D3-05) owns the NFL’s third-best career net avg. (38.33) since ’70. K Connor Barth handles the kicking chores. WR Kevin Robinson (D6b-08) handles the punt and kickoff return duties. RB Jamaal Charles (D3a-08) can also handle duties in the return game.

2008 Cincinnati Bengals
Former Rams QB Ryan Fitzpatrick (T-07) has started 11 games for the Bengals, filling in for injured Pro Bowl QB Carson Palmer (D1-03). Former Chicago RB Cedric Benson and RB Chris Perry (D1-04) share the workload in the backfi eld. WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh (D7-01) needs eight catches and 96 yards to post a second straight 100-catch, 1,000-yard season. Five-time Pro Bowl WR Chad Ocho Cinco (D2-01) is also a dangerous target. TEs Reggie Kelly (UFA-ATL) and Ben Utecht (RFA-IND) provide a talented tandem. Rookie T Anthony Collins (D4-08) has started the last fi ve games subbing for injured T Levi Jones (D1-02). T Stacy Andrews (D4c-04), Gs Nate Livings and Bobbie Williams (UFA-PHI) and C Eric Ghiaciuc round out the the offensive front.

Defensively, DEs Antwan Odom (UFA-TEN) and Jonathan Fanene (D7-05) man the edges of the Bengals 4-3 front. DTs John Thornton and Domata Peko (D4-06) anchor the interior of the defensive line. Former Eagles LB Dhani Jones is the Bengals leading tackler. Former Cardinals LB Brandon Johnson and LB Rashad Jeanty round out the linebacking corps. Nine different Bengals have at least one INT, including CB Leon Hall had three INTs at Cleveland (12/21). He patrols the passing lanes with former Saints CB David Jones. S Kyries Hebertis fills in for injured S Dexter Jackson, who was the MVP of Super Bowl XXXVII with Tampa Bay. S Chris Crocker (FA-08) starts opposite Hebert.

Former Pro Bowl K Shayne Graham handles both the kickoff and placement duties for the Bengals. His career 85.4 FG make percentage is a franchise record and ranks fourth in NFL history. WR Glenn Holt handles kickoff returns, while Houshmandzadeh returns punts. P Kyle Larson handles the punting duties.
