This Week's Matchup
The Kansas City Chiefs and the Denver Broncos meet in an AFC West division matchup on Sunday, Dec. 30. Kickoff is slated for 3:25 p.m. CT at Sports Authority Field at Mile High. In the first meeting between the clubs this season, the Broncos defeated the Chiefs 17-9 at Arrowhead Stadium on Nov. 25 behind two QB Peyton Manning touchdown passes.

Kansas City enters itís final contest of the season with a 2-13 record after falling 20-13 to the Indianapolis Colts at Arrowhead Stadium on Dec. 23. With the game tied at 13-13 entering the fourth quarter, Colts QB Andrew Luck drove his team 73 yards on 13 plays, capping the drive with a seven- yard touchdown pass to WR Reggie Wayne with just over four minutes to play in the contest. Kansas Cityís offense was unable to find rhythm and was forced to punt. The Colts effectively ran out the clock, sealing their win.

In the loss, the Chiefs racked up 352 rushing yards on 44 carries (8.0 avg). RB Jamaal Charles eclipsed the 200-yard rushing mark for the second time this season, recording 226 yards on 22 carries (10.3 avg) including an 86-yard touchdown run in the third quarter. Teammate RB Peyton Hillis contributed 101 rushing yards, marking the first time the Chiefs have had two 100-yard rushers in the same game since RB Christian Okoye (122) and RB Harvey Williams (103) each accomplished the feat vs. Buffalo on Oct. 7, 1991.

On the defensive side of the ball, Chiefs LB Derrick Johnson led the team with seven tackles. The club produced 3.0 sacks including one by Johnson, CB Brandon Flowers and LB Tamba Hali. Haliís sack was his ninth of the season, bumping his career sack total to 62.5.

The Broncos currently hold the No. 2 seed in the AFC playoff race and need a win vs. Kansas City to potentially earn the No. 1 seed (also need Houston loss or tie). Denver enters Sundayís contest with a 12-3 record after defeating the Cleveland Browns 34-12 at Sports Authority Field at Mile High. The Broncos have won 10-straight games after starting the season.

2-3. Manning is the top-ranked passer in the AFC. He has completed 377 passes for 4,355 yards with 34 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. Manningís top targets include WRs Demaryius Thomas and Eric Decker. Thomas leads the team with 87 receptions for 1,312 yards and nine touchdowns while Decker owns 78 catches for 988 yards and 11 touchdowns. On the defensive side of the ball, LB Von Miller ranks second in the AFC with 17.5 sacks, while CB Chris Harris and LB Wesley Woodyard lead the team with three interceptions.
