Chiefs by the Numbers

Football and numbers have always had a close association. I’m not just speaking from a statistical standpoint, although that’s certainly important, but what I’m referring to is the numbers the players have worn to identify themselves.

If your like me, when you think of a certain number, the name of a Chief who wore it immediately pops into your head. #58? (Derrick Thomas), #32? (Marcus Allen), #67? (Art Still), #20? (Deron Cherry) and so on.

In this column I’ve listed the greatest (in my opinion) Chiefs to ever wear each jersey number, from 1-99, they are all listed here. Some were rather easy (#16 Len Dawson), some were fairly difficult because a lot of great players wore that number (88, 89), and some were difficult because only average players wore it (Ray Crockett anyone?).

So stroll down memory lane with me and enjoy!
