[Kansas City.com] Linebacker Kendrell Bell returned to workouts Monday, prompting a sigh of relief from the Chiefs’ defensive coaches.

Bell, a key offseason acquisition from Pittsburgh, sat during the last round of workouts with a slight groin pull. It sounded very similar to the sports hernia injury that sidelined Bell for much of last season, so the coaches held him out of practice as a precautionary measure.

Vermeil gave Bell and the rest of the veterans last week off, and the result was a spirited, up-tempo practice on Monday.

“They were having fun,” Vermeil said. “They were fresh. It will slow down as the week goes on.”
