[Topeka Capital-Journal] Cornerback Julian Battle, who had been running with the first-team defense in the likelihood that starter Eric Warfield could be suspended, injured his Achilles tendon after twisting his foot in a non-contact passing drill Saturday.
The severity of the injury was not immediately known.
“Hopefully, it’s not serious, but if it is, it’s a blow,” Vermeil said. “He was doing everything right to become everything we thought he could be a year ago when he didn’t quite get there. He was on his way.”
“Right now I’ve got a pit in my stomach when I think that it might be serious. I’m concerned.”
