[Topeka Capital-Journal] If Freddie Mitchell thought he could avoid the controversy that often enveloped his career in Philadelphia, the first media question poised to him Saturday as a new receiver for the Kansas City Chiefs told him otherwise.
“Do you feel like a second fiddle here after they first went after Az Hakim?” a radio reporter asked Mitchell seconds after his introduction to the Kansas City media.
To his credit, Mitchell didn’t take the bait.
“Az Hakim is a great receiver who knew this offense. I would have gone after him, too,” Mitchell responded. “That doesn’t make me a second fiddle.”
Consider his first test passed.
