Even though the rest of the world has known for a week now, the NFL finally informed the Chiefs that CB Eric Warfield has been suspended without pay for the first four regular season games of the 2005 season for violation of the league’s substance abuse policy.

“The Kansas City Chiefs respect the Commissioner’s ruling as it pertains to Eric Warfield and will adhere to his decision regarding the matter,” said Chiefs president Carl Peterson on Wednesday, July 20.

Warfield is allowed to participate in all preseason activities, practices and games. He is eligible to return to the team following the Oct. 2 game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
