[KC Chiefs.com] The Kansas City Chiefs players and front office have always maintained a strong connection with the local community. That fact is evident more than ever thanks to the news that the organization raised $1.9 million (net) through charitable efforts in 2004 alone. In fact, the team has set quite a benchmark of giving which resulted in netting over $12 million during the past seven years for various charities. These monies were raised through player foundations as well as player and team sponsored events and do not include the more than 600 charitable appearances or the thousands of autographed items donated to not-for-profit groups.
Numerous Chiefs players have established foundations aimed at helping a charity close to their heart. Some of the high-profile Chiefs that have their own foundations include:
WR Marc Boerigter – Open Arms Foundation
TE Tony Gonzalez – Tony Gonzalez Foundation
QB Trent Green – Trent Green Family Foundation
WR Dante’ Hall – X-Factor Foundation
DE Eric Hicks – Hicks for Hearts Foundation
RB Priest Holmes – Priest Holmes Foundation
WR Eddie Kennison – Quick Start Foundation
LB Mike Maslowski “Maz”s Mentors Foundation
RB Tony Richardson – Rich in Spirit Foundation
G Will Shields – Will to Succeed Foundation
