Week 6 VS. Washington Redskins
Headline: Ambush at Arrowhead
The Chiefs improved their record to 4-1 with a convincing 34-14 victory over the Washington Redskins. Running back Priest Holmes ran for a season high 167 yards and scored two touchdowns on runs of ten and nineteen yards, respectively. The Chiefs defense and special teams got in on the scoring as well. Dante Hall returned the opening kickoff 96 yards for a touchdown and linebacker Kendrell Bell returned a fumble 21 yards for another score.
Week 7 @ Miami Dolphins

Priest Holmes went over the 100 yard mark for the third straight game, rushing for 154 yards and two touchdowns. Tight end Tony Gonzalez caught six passes for 88 yards and wide receiver Marc Boerigter added four receptions and a touchdown. The Chiefs defense held up their end of the bargain as well, holding the Dolphins offense to 146 net yards and forcing five turnovers. The win puts Kansas City alone in first place in the AFC West.
Week 8 @ San Diego Chargers
Headline: Chargers Win in AFC West Shootout
In one of the most exciting games in recent memory, the Chiefs and Chargers traded punches and scores all game long. Unfortunately for the Chiefs, they came up short, dropping their second game of the season. Drew Brees had a huge game, completing 30-42 passes for 317 yards and three touchdown passes. But, Kansas City’s offense showed some firepower of it’s own as Trent Green threw for 243 yards and two touchdown passes and Priest Holmes added 104 yards on the ground and two more scores. With under a minute left and Kansas City clinging to a 38-35 lead, Brees led the Chargers deep into Chiefs territory. On 3rd and goal from the Chiefs one-yard line, fullback Lorenzo Neal plowed his way into the end zone, giving the Chargers the victory. The loss drops the Chiefs to 5-2 and puts them in a first place tie with the Chargers.
Week 9 VS. Oakland Raiders
Headline: Tough Defense Leads Chiefs to Victory
These two teams combined for 51 point in their meeting earlier this season, so no one expected to see a defensive struggle this time around. But, that’s exactly what happened in the rain at Arrowhead. Oakland scored their only points of the game on their first possession, when Kerry Collins connected with wide receiver Randy Moss from 13 yards out, capping a 10-play, 76 yard drive. The game was tied at seven late in the third quarter when Larry Johnson turned a routine 5-yard gain into a electrifying 66 yard touchdown run. Each of Oakland’s final three drives stalled in Kansas City territory, including two missed Sebastian Janikowski field goals, and when the final horn sounded the Chiefs had a hard-fought victory. With the win Kansas City improves to 6-2, while the Raider fall to 3-5.
