[Kansas City.com] The good news for the Chiefs is that X-rays revealed no break in Tony Gonzalez’s foot. The bad news for coach Dick Vermeil is that he’s running out of tight ends.
Gonzalez left practice Saturday night after he irritated a chronic foot problem, and Vermeil said he’s unsure when Gonzalez will return to practice. Tight end backups – Jason Dunn (back spasms) and Kris Wilson (groin) – also have been sidelined.
Vermeil expected Dunn back for Sunday evening’s practice. Edwin Thompson and Mike Kallfelz are the only other two tight ends on the roster.
“Neither of them have played in the National Football League,” Vermeil said. “The kids struggled last night but they gave us the best that they had and enabled us to practice.”
