Week 10 @ Buffalo Bills

Headline: 4th Quarter Rally Saves Chiefs

Trent Green hooked-up with wide receiver Eddie Kennison for two 4th quarter touchdowns as the Chiefs rallied to defeat the Bills in Buffalo. Led by the play of running back Willis McGahee (19 carries, 107 yds.) and back-up quarterback Kelly Holcomb (227 yds., 2 TD’s), the Bills took a 24-17 lead into the final period. But, Kansas City was able to control the clock in the final period – Buffalo ran only seven plays – and regained the lead for good on Kennison’s second touchdown reception with 2:30 remaining. The win puts the Chiefs at 7-2 and gives them a one game lead in the AFC West.

Week 11 @ Houston Texans

Headline: Chiefs Roll Over Texans

The Chiefs defense came out aggressive as they punished quarterback David Carr (4 sacks, 3 INT’s) in a convincing 37-17 win. Sammy Knight returned an interception 28 yards for a score, and Jared Allen nailed Carr in the end zone for a safety. Trent Green was his usual effective self, going 16-22 for 227 yards and two touchdowns (Gonzalez & Boerigter). Priest Holmes led the Chiefs with 107 yards on the ground and back-up Larry Johnson found the end zone on a 17 yard scamper. The win, combined with San Diego’s loss to Buffalo, gives the Chiefs a two game lead in the AFC West.

Week 12 VS. New England Patriots

Headline: Pats Down Chiefs in Thriller

Tom Brady found tight end Daniel Graham in the back of the end zone with 1:40 left in the game to give the Patriots a 27-24 victory and handed the Chiefs their first home loss of the season. Brady went 28-40 for 286 yards and two touchdown passes, while Corey Dillon ran for 94 yards and one score. Priest Holmes nearly carried the Chiefs to victory, rushing for 127 yards on 24 carries and scoring two touchdowns. The loss leaves the Chiefs with a 8-3 record and a one game lead in the AFC West.

Week 13 VS. Denver Broncos

Headline: Chiefs Bounce Back, Crush Broncos

The Chiefs defense bruised and battered Denver quarterback Jake Plummer (5 sacks & 2 INT’s) in a convincing 30-7 win at Arrowhead. Rookie linebacker Derrick Johnson returned a fumble 32 yards for his first NFL touchdown, and defensive end Eric Hicks nailed Plummer in the end zone for a safety. Quarterback Trent Green had a great day, going 24-37 for 306 yards and throwing three touchdown passes (Tony Gonzalez, Kris Wilson & Samie Parker). Priest Holmes added to his NFL rushing lead with 103 yards on the day.
