[Topeka Capital-Journal] The Chiefs conducted a special teams only workout Wednesday morning before fielding one of the more complete squads they’ve seen since the early days of camp for the afternoon session, which was conducted amid 77-degree temperatures.
Many players who had been nursing injuries and missing workouts were on the field in an effort to show they are ready for Friday’s preseason opener at Minnesota. Among the recently injuried going through full workouts Wednesday were TE Tony Gonzalez, DTs John Browning and Junior Siavii, RBs Priest Holmes and Larry Johnson.
Among veteran players not working Wednesday and not expected to play Friday were G Will Shields, WR Freddie Mitchell and DE Carlos Hall. LBs Mike Maslowski and Shawn Barber remain on a special camp physically unable to perform list and will not play the entire preseason.
