[Kansas City.com] Rookie linebacker Derrick Johnson gave fans a glimpse of the speed that made him a Butkus Award winner at Texas.

In the first quarter, he chased Vikings quarterback Daunte Culpepper out of the pocket on a three-and-out series.

“Oh man, I didn’t know Culpepper was as big as that,” Johnson said. “I saw him on TV a couple of times, but in person, he’s a little bit bigger and faster.”

Johnson called his first NFL game “a great experience.” He also said the defense is making progress. However, before the game he had a few jitters.

“I’ve never been to an NFL game, and the first one was a little exciting, but I settled down and I think I did a good job today.”
