[Topeka Capital-Journal] Backup quarterback Todd Collins, who hit only four of the eight passes he tried, and was called for grounding when his badly misfired his first attempt, needed X-rays after he hit his throwing hand on a helmet. No breaks were indicated, but Collins may be sidelined for awhile with a sore hand.
Robert Holcombe, who the Chiefs were hoping could play both as a backup running back and fullback, was carted off the field with a knee injury late in the second quarter. The severity of his injury was not immediately known.
