[Kansas City.com] Chiefs kicker Lawrence Tynes was charged this morning on one felony count of substantial battery and one misdemeanor count of misdemeanor battery in connection with an altercation at a River Falls bar early Sunday.
Tynes made an appearance in Pierce County Circuit Court in Ellsworth, Wis., this morning. He signed a $15,000 signature bond and was released. A preliminary hearing was scheduled for Oct. 11.
The substantial battery charge carries a maximum penalty of a $10,000 fine or jail sentence of 3 ½ years or both. The misdemeanor charge carries a maximum penalty of a $10,000 fine or nine month in jail or both.
According to a River Falls police report, Tynes engaged in an altercation with two people at Boomer’s Bar about 1:07 a.m. on Sunday. A witness alleged that Tynes struck a bar patron in the face, according to the report.
He reportedly later struck a bouncer, identified as Brian J. Roquette of River Falls, in the face. River Falls Police Capt. John Stapleton said medical reports showed Roquette suffered a broken nose in the scuffle.
Tynes was not charged until police received the medical reports.
