Vermeil Concerned with Health of Browning, Siavii

[Topeka Capital-Journal] Head coach Dick Vermeil expressed more apprehension on Tuesday about the on-going absences of defensive linemen John Browning (back) and Junior Siavii (knees). Both practiced little in the first two weeks of camp.

“I’m very concerned about those two guys, more so than any starter,” Vermeil said of the players who are expected to play big parts in the rotation of interior defensive linemen.

Vermeil is especially miffed at Siavii, the Chiefs top draft choice last year who was arrested on misdemeanor charges at a Minneapolis hotel last weekend following a public disturbance.

“We put Junior in the game last week and he comes up with a swollen knee, then he comes up with a swollen head,” Vermeil said. “It ain’t funny. It’s critical in his career right now to do more things right.”
