[Kansas City.com] In just a couple of series Saturday night, defensive end Carlos Hall showed why Gunther Cunningham sought him out of Tennessee this offseason.

Hall, playing in his first game with the Chiefs, sacked Seattle quarterback Matt Hasselbeck and forced what looked to be a fumble in the first quarter. Hall wheeled Hasselbeck to the turf and stripped the ball, but officials ruled that Hasselbeck’s knee was down.

In a later series, Hall pushed Pro Bowl offensive tackle Walter Jones backward. Jones fell into Seattle running back Shaun Alexander, who went down immediately for a 3-yard loss.

Unfortunately, Hall spent the rest of the game in an all-too-familiar position, standing around watching his defensive teammates play. Hall was resting his “slightly injured” knee after missing most of training camp and the first two preseason games with a very injured elbow.

Chiefs coach Dick Vermeil seemed fed up with Hall’s injuries.

“Carlos didn’t play enough to evaluate,” Vermeil said after the game. “All I’ve seen of him is in the training room. Right now, he’s a disappointment. I know it’s there. I liked what I saw while he was in there.”
