[Kansas City.com] Kevin Sampson participated in a limited amount of team snaps Friday, and Brian Waters didn’t work out at all.

But Vermeil said he’s hopeful Waters will still play Sunday against the Jets and said Sampson probably won’t. Waters, a Pro Bowl guard, has been bothered by back spasms. Sampson, a starting tackle, has been out because of a toe injury.

On Sampson’s status, Vermeil said, “He’s not doubtful, he’s out.”

Sampson still was listed as questionable in the Chiefs’ injury report Friday.

Vermeil said the offensive line will be one of the keys to Sunday’s game. The Chiefs also will play without veteran John Welbourn, who is serving a four-game suspension.
