Green Tells Chief Fans to Use Caution

[Topeka Capital-Journal] The following public safety announcement is brought to you by Trent Green, quarterback of the Kansas City Chiefs.

It’s a word of warning for Chiefs fans who might be brave enough to attend tonight’s Kansas City at Oakland game in the notorious Black Hole of Alameda.

The word is: Reconsider.

“I urge caution to all the Chiefs fans that are going to brave the game,” Green said this past week. “We’ll take all the support we can get, but just be smart with your comments if things are going our way. Just make sure you’re careful.”

Green, like many other visiting players, won’t let his family and friends attend a game in Oakland, where one San Diego fan lost his life when attacked.

“I’ve seen too many things happen in the stands, and this a night game. They’ll have all day Sunday to get revved up,” said Green, who has played in front of nasty Raider crowds in both Los Angeles and Oakland.

“Revved up” is Green’s polite way of describing what Raider fans do to prepare for a game. Teammate Eric Hicks puts it more succinctly.

“As soon as you pull into the parking lot you’ll see 3,000 people flipping you the bird and throwing batteries at your bus because they’ve been there drinking since noon,” Hicks noted.
