Chiefs Players of the Game: Raiders

Each week during the 2005 season I will choose an offensive, defensive and special teams player of the game. Here are my selections for the Chiefs after their big win at Oakland:
Offense: QB Trent Green
The offense was not it’s usual explosive self against a tough Oakland defense, but Trent Green and company made enough plays to secure the win. Green completed 18 of 28 passes for 237 yards and kept several drives alive with his scrambling ability. He’s not always pretty, but he’s proven to be very effective.
Defense: LB Derrick Johnson
Tough call on this one, but for the second week in a row I’m going to go with rookie linebacker Derrick Johnson. He recorded 7 tackles and one assist and he used his tremendous speed to disrupt several more plays.
Special Teams: K Lawrence Tynes
Tynes had his first field goal attempt blocked, but he rebounded with two successful second half field goals. After the Raiders had tied the game in the 3rd quarter, Tynes connected from 39 yards out to put the Chiefs back in front, and then he hit from 42 yards out in the 4th quarter to push the lead to six points.
