Sampson Could Leave Hospital Today

[Kansas City.com] If all goes well, Kevin Sampson will leave his New Jersey hospital room as soon as today and rejoin the Chiefs in Kansas City shortly afterward.

“As it stands right now, he will go back, and there’s no reason to believe he won’t be practicing next week,” agent Joe Linta said of Sampson, a second-year offensive lineman.

Linta indicated that doctors said an asthma attack and flulike symptoms led Sampson to feel ill. The Jersey Journal reported that he had a seizure, but that was unclear Friday. A hospital spokesman declined to give information on Sampson.

“The biggest thing was that he was really dehydrated,” Linta said. “They’ve got him on IVs. The doctors said the biggest thing was getting the fluids back in him. That’s the thing that’s preventing him from walking out of the hospital (Friday).”

“He may not have taken his asthma medication. His mother did tell me his asthma gets really bad around New York City because of the air quality. They’re going to do some more tests, but they haven’t found anything yet.”
