Chiefs & Raiders both Suffer Injury Bug

[Kansas City.com] It might be a little dramatic to call today’s game a match between the Chiefs’ and Raiders’ junior varsity teams. But saying depth is a key would certainly be accurate.

For the Chiefs, starters Willie Roaf, Ryan Sims, Priest Holmes and Samie Parker won’t play. Dexter McCleon is unlikely, and Patrick Surtain is at best a game-time decision.

For Oakland, three starters are out, including star defensive back Charles Woodson. Three others, including wide receiver Randy Moss, are injured and either won’t play or will be limited.

“I don’t base winning all the time on health of the roster,” Chiefs coach Dick Vermeil said. “If you did that in the National Football League, you’d always be worried about losing. I go through those concerns all week in preparation that we can’t practice sometimes like you’d normally practice, but when we line up and play Sunday, I expect the people we have to line up and play well enough for us to win.”
