[Kansas City.com] Ryan Sims worked out under the watchful eye of trainers off to the side at practice, an indication that he might return before season’s end. Coach Dick Vermeil is more optimistic about Sims playing this year.
“Ryan Sims is making very good progress,” Vermeil said. “I’ve been around that kind of injury, and I’ve never seen anyone come back during the season. Right now it looks like he’ll make it back. I can’t tell you a time scale. All I know is, he’s working hard enough to work up a pretty good sweat on a foot that (shouldn’t allow it).”
Sims appears to be keeping his weight down, something he has had problems doing. Vermeil indicated that Sims was at 313 pounds, close to his usual playing weight.
Sims hasn’t played since the season opener against the Jets. The Chiefs called his injury a sprained foot.
