Defense Contains McGahee

[Kansas City.com] Several Chiefs players asked reporters how many yards Willis McGahee rushed for after Kansas City’s 14-3 loss Sunday to the Bills.

The Chiefs defense held Buffalo’s star running back to a pedestrian 66 yards on 20 carries, including a long run of 13 yards. Overall, the unit held the Bills to 209 yards of total offense.

None of it mattered.

Two plays cooked the Chiefs. Touchdown catches of 33 and 29 yards by Lee Evans ruined an otherwise strong defensive performance that saw the Chiefs limit the Bills to two scores despite Buffalo’s average starting field position being its own 46-yard line.

“It’s tough when you stop an offense like that and you don’t win,” defensive tackle Lional Dalton said. “You physically beat up on a team, and you lose. That (stinks). What can I say? We just didn’t do enough to win the game.”
