[Kansas City.com] When Priest Holmes went down with a season-ending injury, his counterpart, Larry Johnson, decided to zip his lip.
You knew it couldn’t last long.
Johnson, in his weekly radio segment on WHB, said Tuesday that sometimes the Chiefs get too cute on offense. Johnson ran for 132 yards in Sunday’s 14-3 loss to Buffalo, but Kansas City went away from the run in the second half.
Apparently, coach Dick Vermeil didn’t think Johnson’s comments were so cute.
“Well, I don’t know how many games Larry’s ever coached,” Vermeil said. “But Larry has a way of expressing himself.”
“I think we can sometimes overestimate what we can do when (we’re not) full strength. I know the offense has been extremely successful, as cute as it’s been. It’s (ranked) No. 9 right now (in the NFL).”
