Chiefs Happy & Healthy

[Kansas City.com] If Dick Vermeil appeared a little too happy to be working on a holiday, he had good reason Thursday afternoon. After an injury-filled year, Vermeil was greeted with several pieces of good news.

Cornerback Patrick Surtain, who looked highly doubtful just a few days ago, participated in part of Thursday’s workout.

Ten-time Pro Bowl tackle Willie Roaf, who’s been out six games with a hamstring pull, is “ready to go,” Vermeil said.

And for the first time in a year, linebacker Shawn Barber will suit up Sunday against the Patriots.

“We’re as healthy as we’ve been all year,” Vermeil said. “You’re darned right (I’m happy). Good football players help you win games, especially against other real good football teams.”

“I think Patrick Surtain is going to be OK, I know Willie Roaf is OK. – Of course Priest (Holmes) is not there, but the bulk of our football team is ready to play.”
