Gonzalez Unhappy with Role this Season

[Kansas City.com] Tony Gonzalez didn’t spend Sunday lobbying for any particular person as the Chiefs’ next head coach. He mentioned Al Saunders. He’s heard about Herman Edwards.

After wrapping up the season with two TDs, Gonzalez just knows one thing – he wants somebody who will get him the ball in the red zone.

Asked whether he wants a coach who continues with the same scheme, Gonzalez said, “Well, hopefully, that scheme changes. Because I’m not happy with it at all, the way it’s going right now, the way I was used this year. Especially in the red zone.”

“Only two touchdowns – I haven’t done that since my second year in the league. I would like to get more opportunities down there like I used to, like I normally do. I want to be able to help this team more than I did this year.”

Gonzalez finished with 78 catches for 905 yards. Last year, he had 102 catches for 1,258 yards and seven touchdowns.

“Honestly, I don’t care who the head coach is,” Gonzalez said. “Whether it’s Al Saunders, or (Jeff) Fisher or Herman, whoever they bring in here. All those guys are capable of doing a good job. Hopefully, it will be a situation where I can go out there and I can show what I can do.”
