[Topeka Capital-Journal] The Chiefs have yet to confirm it, but the agent representing Herman Edwards said Saturday that the team and the former Jets coach had agreed on a five-year contract that would bring Edwards to Kansas City as the replacement for retiring head coach Dick Vermeil.

Various media outlets have reported the framework of the deal to be a five-year package that with incentives could be worth as much as $20 million. Edwards made around $2 million annually this past season in his fifth year with the New York Jets.

The Chiefs have advised local media outlets to anticipate a Monday news conference to formally introduce Edwards as the team’s 10th head coach.
