[Kansas City.com] Monday marked the first day of the Chiefs’ offseason conditioning program, and according to wide receiver Eddie Kennison, there was a big turnout for the workouts, which aren’t mandatory.
Among the notables in attendance were Pro Bowl running back Larry Johnson, whom new coach Herm Edwards has asked to be a leader, and veteran guard Will Shields.
Among the missing was running back Priest Holmes, who suffered a neck injury at midseason. Even before the injury, Holmes usually stayed in Texas to train.
“He’ll be in and out, probably more out than in,” Edwards said of Holmes. “He can’t do anything at this point, anyway.”
“Some guys live out of town. I understand that. For the most part, they’ll be around. I think with a new coach, most of these guys understand the importance of being around.”
