Chadiha: Holmes Should Retire

[CNNSI] In his latest column CNNSI’s Jeffri Chadiha reports that judging from some of the signals the Chiefs are sending running back Priest Holmes, it’s hard to imagine he’ll ever play football in Kansas City again.

Chadiha sat in on the media session held by Chiefs head coach Herm Edwards on Tuesday at the NFL’s annual meeting and when asked about Holmes’ role, Edwards said the 10-year veteran would be a “change of pace” back, a runner who could perhaps help his career by accepting far fewer carries.

Chadiha goes on to say that the offense now belong to Larry Johnson, and that whether or not Holmes’ doctors rule him healthy enough to play this season, he’s already heard enough to know the Chiefs have lost faith in him.

Chadiha finishes the column by saying that he believes Holmes will probably call it a career.
