[Kansas City.com] The rolling roof isn’t quite dead, but it’s on life support.
Jackson County legislators made clear Monday that a roof proposal would not appear on the August ballot. And it’s up to the Chiefs to determine whether it goes forward in November.
Political and business opposition forced Jackson County Legislator Dennis Waits to withdraw plans to introduce an ordinance calling for placing the rolling roof on the Aug. 8 ballot.
Waits does not want to lose the promised Super Bowl in 2015 at Arrowhead and an all-but-promised Final Four, but he also was practical about the obstacles facing an August election, including unfavorable poll numbers.
“The teams – especially the Chiefs after reviewing the results of the polls – are not ready to go forward at this time,” Waits said Monday. “It just shows we have some work to do on this.”
