[KC Chiefs.com] Chiefs President Carl Peterson announced on Sunday that the club has agreed in principle to terms on a five-year contract with CB Ty Law. As per Chiefs policy, no other terms of the agreement were made available.
“After a very lengthy negotiation that was many times on and off again, we are very pleased to have come to an agreement with Ty Law and his representatives,” Peterson commented. “Obviously Ty Law comes to us with tremendous experience and credentials at the cornerback position. He has played in World Championship games and numerous Pro Bowls. His experience and leadership should be a tremendous asset to our secondary. Certainly Ty’s relationship with Herm Edwards played a role in this negotiation. Both Herm and Ty are pleased to be back on the same team once again. We hope that Ty can be as productive for the Kansas City Chiefs as he was last year with the N.Y. Jets.”
“We are getting a true pro,” Chiefs head coach Herm Edwards commented. “I think when you watch this guy play the first thing you realize about him is that he is very, very competitive. He has great ball awareness and is savvy as a player. He plays through pain. He is the type of guy that wants to play. He has great pride in what he can do and what type of player he is.”
