[Kansas City.com] The Chiefs continue to hold open a roster spot for tackle Willie Roaf, who said he would retire. President/general manager Carl Peterson said he hadn’t talked with Roaf but did meet with Peter Schaffer, Roaf’s agent.
Schaffer was in River Falls on Wednesday. Several Chiefs in addition to Roaf are represented by Schaffer.
“If I didn’t think there was a chance (Roaf would return), we’d put him on (the retired list),” Peterson said. “We’re not going to put him there because the door is still open for him.”
“I have told his agent that if (Roaf is retiring), I want to do this right. I want to have a full press conference for him. He deserves that. He’s been a marvelous player for the Chiefs and a great player in the National Football League. We’ll want to honor him at a game.”
His agent indicated Willie is not ready to do that.
