[Kansas City.com] Former Chiefs coach Dick Vermeil will be the color analyst for the NFL Network’s telecast of Saturday night’s game against the Raiders in Oakland. After coming to Kansas City early in the week for Lamar Hunt’s memorial service, Vermeil stopped by Arrowhead Stadium for a visit Thursday.
Vermeil acknowledged he would have trouble remaining impartial because of his ties to the Chiefs.
“I might find it very hard to keep it a balanced broadcast,” he said. “Since I don’t do this for a living, I really don’t care.”
Vermeil, who had his public battles with running back Larry Johnson, was amused by Johnson’s recent criticism of the offense.
“Larry’s a player, not a coach,” Vermeil said. “That’s Larry. He gets frustrated from time to time. I don’t think he means any harm by it, any disrespect.”
