Chief Thoughts – Scoring Points, What a Concept!

Maybe someone on the Chiefs reads this opinion, because they’ve been busy signing players. I’m very happy they brought Donnie Edwards back, even though he should have never been let go the 1st time (they re-signed Eric Warfield instead, GOOD CALL!!!), but in typical KC fashion, it’s 1 step forward, one step back. All their new signings came on defense, which is great, but defense wasn’t really the problem last year, it was the offense.
In ’06, the Chiefs scored 16 pts or less 7 times, & went 0-7. They scored 30 pts or more 4 times, & went 4-0. In fact, from 1980-2006, KC is 17-121-1 when scoring 16 pts or less, & they are 86-15 when they score 30 pts or more. Notice any trends?
If you are a stubborn employee who works at Arrowhead, let me spell it oot for you (yes, I type with a Canadian accent): HISTORICALLY, THE CHIEFS DO NOT WIN LOW SCORING GAMES!!!
If KC would have scored 17 pts in every game last season they would have won 2 more games (& been 11-5), & would have had a chance to win 4 more, including a playoff game (putting them at 14-2).
I’m no general manager, but me thinks one needs a little offense to win games, and not fixing a bad offense will have you sitting at home (again) in January.
It was nice to see Trent Green at workouts, even though the team did every thing they could to get rid of him. Don’t you just love NFL loyalty? Anyone remember the QB instability of the 80′s & 90′s? How aboot Grbac & Bono? How about Gannon, DeBerg, Krieg, Montana, Jaworski, Pueller, Blackledge, Kenny, Seuer, Vlasik, Moon, & Fuller?
Trent started for 5 STRAIGHT YEARS, but when he gets knocked silly from poor line blocking (still not fixed) & a stupid game plan (still keeping Solari), they can’t wait to get rid of him. Nice.
It doesn’t seem to me that the Chiefs feel winning is as important as raising ticket prices, or saving money on a QB, a DE & a top tier RB.
The Chiefs are quickly becoming the Chicago Cubs of the NFL. But that’s just my opinion, I could be wrong.
