[Kansas City.com] Left tackle Damion McIntosh, who missed most of training camp and all of the preseason because of a sprained knee, returned to practice Monday and took his spot in the starting lineup.

Coach Herm Edwards indicated McIntosh would play in Sunday’s regular-season opener against the Texans in Houston.

“I just assume he’s going to be ready,” Edwards said. “Will he have a full load? I don’t know that yet. We’ll see as the week goes by.”

McIntosh didn’t sound as certain.

“I wanted to test it out moving side to side,” he said. “There was a little contact on it and it was fine. It’s just another step of progress. I’ll do a little more (on Wednesday).”

“I want to get out there, but I want to get out there at the right time.”
