Remember When?

After today’s pounding in Denver I got to thinking about old times. Times when I used to look forward to going to Arrowhead, the “loudest stadium in the NFL” to watch the Chiefs do battle with all comers. The AFC west was the toughest division in the NFL and we could beat any of them at home. Alas no more, I feel like the King is dead (Arrowhead advantage).
Who is at fault for this? I don’t know who is at fault, but I DO know who is responsible. I don’t believe that it is the players fault, or injuries are to blame. We have a lot of talent on our team. I believe it is lack of motivation, and coaching. I am sick and tired of hearing the excuses of our “so called” head coach. I truly believe this man could not coach a pee wee team to any kind of title. I am tired of watching this man show no emotion on the sideline. At least Vermeil showed emotion. But, with our current head coach, no emotion is shown. How the hell can you get your players pumped up for a big game without showing any emotion! When Vermeil lost a game he told everyone that HE did not have his players ready for the game. Edwards always blames his players for not making plays! When my wife and I were watching last Monday night’s game we noticed that while the Pats defense was on the sidelines, coach Belichick was actually COACHING his players instead of WATCHING the game! Wow Herm, what a concept! It appears that Herm just has one of the best places to WATCH the game. Herm always says that he plays to win the game. How about COACHING to win the game?
Remember when you could not get a ticket to a home game? It is sad for me to go to a game and see all of the empty seats. See all of the opposing teams fans filling many of the open seats. These fans would not even be at the game if these seats were occupied by Chiefs fans, but who can blame them. At the Packers game I believe their fans were a lot louder than ours, and just about the same number of fans. I recently looked on Ebay to see what tickets were going for so I could sell my Titans tickets. I was very surprised at the number of tickets that were for sale and I really don’t think a person could “give” these tickets away. I am getting very tired of the six hour round trip to watch MY Chiefs lose, AT HOME. Thus I am giving up my season tickets after this year. Maybe if us loyal fans can hit the ownership where it hurts things will change. But I know King Carl will put a spin on this by saying that it is due to renovations and that is the reason that the stadium is not full.
Remember when the biggest home game of the year was the Raiders and the Broncos games? The stadium would be overfilled and so loud you could literally not hear yourself think, or be able to talk to the person next to you. But again, this year Arrowhead was not even close to being full. We just have not had anything to cheer about this year, and I do not believe any thing will be different next year with the current “leadership.” And I use that term very loosely. Not any more thanks to King Carl and Herm!
Remember when fans leaving after the game was over, held their heads high because we won? We are on the bottom of the AFC West for pete’s sake! I don”t even feel like watching this bloodbath anymore. Today I was praying that CBS would change over to the Patriots/Steelers game so I would not have to watch the Chiefs get POUNDED by the Donkeys. That is just SAD! I feel like my heart has been ripped out of my chest and stomped on the ground. I am getting very tired of convincing myself that there is “always next year”. I will always be a Chiefs fan but from now on I just won’t tell anyone.
It is becoming apparent to me that the Hunt family is not interested in winning a Super Bowl. If they were, they would fire King Carl and Herm tonight! I believe that they are only interested in selling tickets and making money off of parking. Just think of all of the extra income they would have if the Chiefs were to win a Super Bowl. Fans want management and coaches that are hungry to win a Super Bowl and not just satisfied with an average record (not that this year is average).
It is just very sad when all we have left is our “Remember When”. Thanks King Carl and your little puppet named Herm.
