You all have to understand that the young boys are taking over. We need young fresh blood. We got Benny Sapp off of Ebay !! We don’t need him because he is a backup forever !! Out with the old and in with the new. I don’t miss Kris Wilson, Griffin, Sapp, etc. We need for people to come in and set a new tone for the Chiefs. One that is of respect. As long as Greg Wesley is tackling for us, we will never get any respect in the NFL !! We need people who are young and hungry. Sapp wasn’t shit !!

Guys I don’t think Matt Ryan is the answer. Maybe I’m wrong. But if Jake Long or Glen Dorsey are available I would rather take them. Brodie’s got a big arm, is pretty mobile and pretty accurate. We just had the worse offensive line in the league.. If we improve our offensive line and allow LJ to be the center of our offense again then I think we’ll be pretty good. Plus our defense is already improving. With Gun running the LB’s too, then I’d say we’ll be a pretty good Defensive team…

I don’t know, 20 interceptions for Ryan in his last year, I think he’s way too hyped!!!!

I read last night that the Eagles may be interested in trading McNabb to the Chiefs for the 5th round pick… what do you guys think about that???? I hope that does not happen….

Unfortunately, it is impossible to even evaluate our backfield based on last season’s performance. We had no stability on the offensive line. Seemed like we had a different starting lineup each week, far different from what we have become accustomed to. In my opinion, we have the athletes in the backfield, but it really doesn’t matter if the line can’t pass protect.

I think the obvious additions we need are in this order:

1. General Manager
2. Offensive line (LT, Center, RT, RG)
3. Defensive Tackle
4. Corner
5. Fullback
6. TE

You’re right, i’m by no means sold on Croyle. I’d also rather have Rodgers and probably Ryan of Croyle. In Croyle’s defense, he has survived 2 years and currently has a starting spot on an NFL team. That’s much more than Ryan can say. Not that i’m down on Ryan, but remember that other Ryan… Ryan Leaf?

Anyway, the list above was just a off-the-cuff list of actual holes in our roster right now. If you accept Herm’s roster (dislike the talent as you may) we already have 3 QBs (Thigpen, Croyle, Huard). Recent rumor is that if we draft Ryan, Huard would go. I disagree with that, b/c what’s the point of having 3 “prospects” for one position when you could be using that spot for some nice veteran mentorship?

you forgot to mention QB. Brodie Croyle is not ready to be the Chiefs starter. Every game he played in, he lost. I really don’t see how all you Chiefs fans think Croyle is the future of this franchise. I’d rather have Aaron Rodgers or Matt Ryan at QB. At least those guys have high expectations. We don’t have an OL. We don’t have a FB. We don’t have a blocking TE. If Croyle started next year, we would lose every game. I don’t really care who we would draft next year. This is not the 60’s where your future was based on who you would pick in the NFL draft. We only have LJ, Dwayne Bowe, Tony G., Brian Waters, DJ, Boone, Williams, Allen, Surtain and Colquitt. I don’t think 10 players can turn this team around Carl. You need to get off your ass and start trading, drafting, signing players left and right.

As far as i know, Parker isn’t under contract and the buzz (admittedly a while ago) was they weren’t going to try and resign him. Of course, if no one else signs him this spring, maybe we’ll still bring him back, but the Chiefs don’t seem to be making an effort to make that happen. Personally, I think Parker’s used up his chances here and would be better somewhere else. I’m much more disappointed in them letting Fox, Wilkerson, and Sapp go. We also should have considered keeping Weigmann since we already had 2 other OL spots to fill.

What do we need to fill at this point alread?

And those are just the starters and primary backups that need to be filled. We also need to fill some of the riff-raff at the bottom. Does Herm really expect to get 15-20 players from the draft and CFA that will stick on this roster?

This is year 3 of the Hermcuffs and we’re still heading downward. Vermeil inherited a poor and aging team and turned it around in 1 year. How long are people going to give Herm?

I really don’t understand how Herm says he wants to sign young players going into their second contract, but then lets Fox, Sapp, Wilkerson, Grigsby, Parker, etc all walk. As if we have any better options for our bench? These guys are likely better than what we’ll get with all the “extra” picks we have in the 5th, 6th, and 7th rounds or college free agents. There’s only so many spots we can fill with our limited high draft picks.
