[KC Chiefs.com] Chiefs President Carl Peterson announced on Monday that the club has agreed to terms of a two-year contract with unrestricted free agent C Wade Smith. As per Chiefs policy, no other terms of the agreement was made available.

Smith has worked primarily at tackle during his NFL career, but is expected to compete at center with Kansas City. He played in 14 games as a reserve offensive lineman and on special teams for the N.Y. Jets in 2007.

    2. Oh chill the eff out. It’s not like us signing him hurt us in any way. In the least bit we might get lucky. Who really knows..we seriously have nothing to lose when it comes to signing free agents. If we get lucky and he is a late blooming stud..hell yeah. If not, so what he’ll retire. Who cares at this point you haven’t even seen him play.

    3. In the least bit we might get lucky??? Is that really the type of team that you want to follow?? Do the Patriots, Steelers, Chargers, and the like, sign players hoping they get lucky?? Sure you might find someone that fits, however the player takes up cap space, a roster spot, etc… An organizations needs to do more to seek players out that are NFL caliber! And not just roll the dice! The key free agents have snubbed the Chiefs to the point where Herm Edwards was crying foul! And calling for investigations!! What a joke! The simple fact is nobody that is quality wants to play for the Chiefs! Plain and simple! A case in point is Jared Allen! And the good players we do have are locked into contracts and can’t get out! That is why they are playing in K.C. Until there is a regime change the scenario will not change! I will chill out when the team that I love decides they want to take the steps necessary to be all that they can be and at least make an effort!!!

    6. We’ve been rebuilding since Joe Montana retired we’re on year 14 i believe of a life long King Carl plan. I just hope that if we don’t see this team in the playoffs and win after at least the 2009 season, then I hope Clark fires both of them.

    7. this will not stop until somebody does something. i love the chiefs, but maybe us as fans just need to ignore their existence for a couple of years. i don’t know. i can’t tell hermand carl who to signand who not to sign. i dunno what else to do. its either fill the seats at arrowhead and watch herm’s mess, or we can ignore the entire thing, either way, life goes on, and we can’t do shit no matter how much we bitch

    8. hahah, another former and worthless Jet. I’m telling you, this isn’t rebuilding, this is just plain scab hiring. All about the $$$. We let every free agent go and replace them with rookies and league minimum free agents.
