To acquire DE Jared Allen, the Vikings are willing to give the Chiefs their No. 1 pick (17th overall), along with its 2009 second-round pick and a 2008 third round pick (unclear which one).

Just give us first and third round for this year and then give us back Tony Richardson….then i’d like the deal

I would wait until draft day to make a deal, but absolutely trade Allen. He isn’t going to sign with the Chiefs next year, so we might as well get some quality draft picks for him. Everyone knows the chiefs are going to suck this year anyway, so lets make some deals.
Comment by Jay B. — April 22, 2008 @ 12:20 pm
They should ask for their first this year and their 2nd this year their first next year and Adrian Petterson
Comment by Michael Raite — April 22, 2008 @ 12:25 pm
No just!!!!! kidding they should ask for Tony Richardson back too!

sounds like a good trade for someone who don’t want to be here anyway and T-Rich is now a Jet by the way
Comment by Tim — April 22, 2008 @ 12:45 pm
sounds like a reasonable trade, three picks for a team in the chiefs position would be a good thing.
And if the chiefs use those picks right, who’s to say that we dont get a future pro-bowler and the vikings are the ones looking foolish. it could happen, you guys just might have to think positively for once.
for me the draft is a new begginig and the chiefs have the oppurtunity to turn it around. but it has to happen soon. so let us all hope and pray to the GOD’s of the NFL Draft to give us some quality talent. PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Herm wake up make the trade if they eat his salary to this is a great move for the Chiefs. This gives us room to make more moves in the draft. This opens the door for the Chiefs not to hand cuffed to ta

Herm wake up make the trade if they eat his salary to this is a great move for the Chiefs. This gives us room to make more moves in the draft. This opens the door for the Chiefs not to hand cuffed to take only an O lineman with our first maybe now a QB hint hint MR. Ryan. If Herm can’t build a team with all these picks fire him!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Beware - Matt Ryan is a bust!!! Why use the #5 pick for a guy who threw 19 interceptions last year? I don’t know how he is considered so much better than Brohm. If Chris Long is still available at 5, take him. Otherwise, take Albert.

Why wait, just do it, then you can worry about draft day from this point forward. I hate it when teams wait to the last minute. I’d give this 24 hours then I’d pull the trigger. Only reason I’d do that is to see of Tampa Bay would up their offer, but I doubt it.

JARED, COME TO MY FAVORITE TEAM THE VIKINGS!! WE NEED A GOOD PASS RUSHER!
Comment by todd nolte — April 22, 2008 @ 7:39 pm
Its nice how this trade would play awesomely into both teams hands, and if allen f*cks it up, then we get the better end of the deal…I’m not worried about who CP drafts. He can draft, there is no question…he he has missed a couple (Ryan Sims) but D-line in the first round is always hit or miss. He found JA didn’t he? And LJ, and Tony G and Derrick Thomas, and Derrick Johnson, and D Bowe…catch my drift…This could play out REAL well, specially if we get all 3!

I say do it, get as young as we can but keep the proven vets. (Tony, Donnie, LJ, well there isn’t much more} We cant get much worse, we’ll still have somewhat of a pass rush maybe we can get help on the run(Glen Dorsey), or big help at corner. I say go to a 3-4 D and find the biggest nose tackle we can. This year is so deep at o-line that if we can’t find at least 2 starters our scout team needs to hit the road, along with HE. One problem with Herm is that he needs to stop trying to find a bunch of choir boys and take a risk every once in a while, a good coach can get a bad apple to straighten his ass up(belichek-randy moss) Herm seems to just want them out. I have’nt given up faith yet so lets try to make arrowhead as loud as I have ever heard it this year…….at least we can then say we did our part cause booing has never helped a team, especially at home

Well everyone can stop wondering about Jake Long, he signed a 57.5 mil 5 year deal with the dolphins today so lets move on from here.

I like the trade, 3 picks fo JA would be a wise move. I like the move of waiting 24 hours to see if the TB Bucs, Eagles or maybe the Panthers make a better offer. Could you imagine if another team offers something better and then the Vikings offer a 1st and 3rd this year along with a 2nd and 5th next year or a 2nd next year and back-up player. This trade is getting better and better.
Now we need to trade Greg Wesley for draft pick as well. With a weak safety draft this year there has to be a team willing to trade for a veteran safety like Wesley. Possibly the Giants, Jaguars or Cowboys.

We’ll probably have the first pick in next years draft, so I say give Brodie another chance. We can get the best QB next year. We are going to need another DE now, get that with the 5th pick and take the best LT with the 17th pick. I’d really like to see them trade LJ and get McFadden.
Comment by Jeff R. — April 22, 2008 @ 9:42 pm
I agree Matt Ryan is not as good as the hype he is receiving. I say give us the first and second round picks from 2008 and a second in 2009 and get rid of Allen. He isn’t nearly as good as some of the top defensive players in the draft (Chris Long, Vernon Gholston, Glenn Dorsey, or even Sedrick Ellis) and if they’re all gone then that means we got Chris Long. If we get a QB it doesn’t matter how good he is unless we have lineman…which we could get a good OT with a 17th pick. If we get 2 tackles, 1 guard, move waters to center and move mcintosh to guard, then croyle will shine. If he doesn’t then f-word.

I meant Jake Long but apparently he is off the market..
