The Chiefs selected Virginia Tech CB Brandon Flowers with their 2nd round pick in the 2008 NFL Draft.
In 41 games at Virginia Tech, Flowers (5-10, 189) started 28 contests at boundary cornerback, making 158 tackles (99 solo) with 3.5 sacks for minus-28 yards, 17 stops for losses of 71 yards and six quarterback pressures. He caused and recovered a fumble, deflected 32 passes and intercepted ten others for 172 yards in returns and two touchdowns.

He’s an explosive CB… just what we need… so far the draft is going pretty well…

wow how did we steal this guy??? check out his highlight film. this should have been the first CB taken out of this draft, he is nasty
he is just what the DR. ordered for the chiefs D. the only downfall for this guy is going to be that he is going to have to do most of his learning on the field, due to the fact he is going to have to start this year.
for the first day the chiefs definately get an A+ from me. lets just hope rounds 3-7 go as well tomorrow.

This has been an awesome draft so far…. but now I know we will be playing a 3-4 d next year(thats what dorsey played in ) next up for us is a nasty LB, maybe xavier adibi from VT, after that I think we should probably get another OT or maybe think WR, but so far I could’nt be happier.

Best first day draft of any team. Nice work.

I know we are lucky but Carl just may have saved his job for at least three more years. I got no problems so long as we get our boys signed by training camp.

The Chiefs have undoubably been the biggest winners of day one. These are the three guys that I said that we would be lucky to get…and low and behold, Dorsey and Flowers dropped and we took the initiative to go up and get Alberts. The best single draft day in Chiefs history. If we hit today, the 2008 draft will go down in history as the weekend that turned the franchise around and filled the seats in New Arrowhead.

And the guys who keep saying that we shouldn’t have drafted a d end since we let Jared Allen go need to stay off these boards. These are the drunk guys at the bar that make even the drunks uncomfortable with their pointless rants factually inacurate arguments.

I agree, this is the best draft I have seen in quite some time, maybe the best ever for the Chiefs. Even the media thinks that we are doing an outstanding job and they never have anything good to say about us. 3 great picks, lets hope they keep coming. Now I bet ticket holders are pissed that they didn’t renew. I will be happy to be there next year and see the start of a new younger generation.

Well, any ticket holders that didn’t renew should become Ram fans, because I don’t want that kind of cancer in Arrowhead anyway. Maybe they’ll be more comfortable and less irritating if they can enjoy games in consistent 70 degree weather while staring at a big white roof.
You should have seen this coming…all the players that we needed were slated to go right around the places that we were drafting. We were just lucky that the best player in the draft fell to 5 and Flowers fell to the second round.

First of all, I never thought Dorsey would make it to the fifth pick. As much as I thought we needed a new DE, I will take the best player in the draft (Dorsey) any day. I live in Virginia and have seen Albert and Flowers play. They are both studs. Albert could play LT.
Since we lost JA and Wilkerson we still have a hole at DE, unless, like some of you suspect, we are going to a 3-4 D. I’d like to see them take Jeremy Thompson and/or Cliff Avril. Also, I wouldn’t be upset if they took John David Booty, he was one of the best HS QBs ever and didn’t even play his Senior year and played at a big-time college behind two Heisman winners. Then go get some backup OL’s. As much as I was upset about the JA trade, I think we are doing a great job in the draft. I give them an A, but today is critical.

You let the board tell you who to pick and you stick with the plan. The Chiefs Draft team stuck to their plan and it showed. Great Job on the first and 2nd rounds Carl, Herm and Bill. I am looking forward to getting everyone signed and ultimately seeing the in a Chiefs Jersey this coming season. Yes, I kept my season tickets and gained a seat. Glad I did.

Where are all the guys who said we shouldn’t have traded Allen?? Where are all the Chief bashers from a week ago?? Come on out and show your face. YOU BUILD FROM THE DRAFT as i’ve been saying for the past two weeks. These players are ours to watch for many years to come and there is a buzz in Kansas City now.
