Chiefs Sign OT Barry Richardson

Chiefs Sign OT Barry Richardson

June 25th, 2008 @ 1:55 pm; ChiefsWarpath.com

[KC Chiefs.com] Chiefs President Carl Peterson announced on Wednesday that the club has agreed to terms of a three-year contract with T Barry Richardson. As per Chiefs policy, no other terms of the agreement were made available.

Richardson joined the Chiefs as the club’s first of two sixth-round picks (170th overall) in the 2008 NFL Draft. He played in 49 games during his four-year career at Clemson. Richardson started every game over his final three seasons for the Tigers, earning first-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference honors in 2006 and 2007.

  1. I guess the thinking here is that if we get enough guys, atleast one will be good…Bring on 1-15!

  2. APhizzle why don’t you go join a bandwagon like the Pats or Cowboys since you’re not a REAL fan!!

  4. Its good to get the draft picks signed before camp begins. Richardson has done good in OTA’s so far and will push McIntosh to be better. As for APhizzle try to be a real fan cause when the chiefs come to play this year please do not say good things on this site cause then you would be a fairwheather fan and the chiefs dont need that.

  9. If anyone knew anything about great offensive lines in the past few years of the three super bowl teams they all had 1 1st rounder and 3 guys mixed between rounds 2-7 and sometimes one player undrafted. You can not judge a line until they go play. I just hope and pray that these guys are good enough to win. Not because a different group of guys last year sucked for us, but because I feel younger more athletic lineman can work well in a simple offense. We will be better and it will awesome to see for a change a real team in arrowhead. It will be tough at times watching our rookie starters make mistakes against pro bowl type players, but that is just how you learn.

  10. very true indeed but, my point is I don”t expect playoff caliber play from our retooled o-line this year i am greatful that we addressed the issues our interior but, really this should have been addressed early last season there is no excuse why Herm allowed solari to and himself make such bad judgements point one Herm isvery stubborn and set in his ways and play calling and two solari was in over his head lets hope Herm wises up this season let chan run the offense use your deep threat in D. Bowe!! teach croyle how to maximize his new offense

  11. NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS THIS YEAR THIS IS WHAT WE SHOULD HAVE DONE A LONG TIME AGO. I AM SO GLAD THAT WE ARE FINALLY BUILDING THRU THE DRAFT, AND I THINK YES WE WILL HAVE GROWING PAINS BUT THIS TEAM IS ON ITS WAY TO BEING GOOD, AND IF WE CAN PUT AN OFFENSE TOGETHER IN A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME WE JUST MIGHT FINALLY HAVE A DEFENSE AND AN OFFENSE THAT CAN GO AND WIN A SUPER BOWL. WE’VE ALLWAYS BEEN GOOD ON ONE SIDE AND AVERAGE ON THE OTHER. HERM MIGHT BE ALOT OF THINGS BUT AT LEAST HE REALIZED THAT THIS TEAM NEEDED TO GET YOUNG.

  12. Loved what you said Michael R! I couldn’t agree with you more. The Chiefs have been for some time a older team. Don’t get me wrong as you need a few veterans out there sure, but let’s be realistic here… We needed to do this for some time! I have complete faith in our Defense and half that on our Offense. I think by simplifying our Offense by a great margin is really going to help. Chan is not by any standards a crappy coach and he is smart with what he knows he has. I promise you this, at the end of the season the nay sayers will be saying “that o-line was a heck of a lot better then what we had”. Honestly, Turley, Welbourn, Black (especially Black)? I saw nothing from them REALLY outstanding or better yet consistency wise. I won’t get into a lot of hooplah or anything like that, but Chiefs will be much much better this year then the last two seasons. I’m just ready for some football and to see these young guys go out and give it there all. I tell one last thing in my opinion unlike past years in drafting. We now have draftees that KNOW that the way the Chiefs are that they are going to have every bit of opportunity to start and play immediately and that in most cases allows a young player to give it there all (just a different mind frame) then say some one like Junior Siavvi or a Ryan Sims. Me personally I would rather be on a team that starts younger players etc.. then be put in with a bunch of veterans and know that maybe the position I am playing at doesn’t matter too much, because they have this older guy(s) hovering over my shoulder. That might be a bad way to look at it, but I think it is probable. Carl Peterson.. I agree with most negatives people say though I agree that he has brought a lot of money to the organization and is extremely smart with money though he needs to stay out of the personal decisions of football. Herm… I like the guy personally. Yes I think what he did with Salori was a bad call, but look at the situation given to Herm when he came in. Let’s not forget that. Anyhow.. go CHIEFS!

  13. yeah carl peterson may be smart with money but,he is notorious with trying to under pay players!! Ryan Simms was a bust from the word go and I hope to god mc intosh desn’t go the same way!! Peterson knows damn well that he should have given allen the money he deserved he played above his pay scale in the last two seasons!!! I said it b4 and I will say it again if the chiefs don’t produce this season peterson is out!!!
I like Herm to he is truly a player coach hes been there but, he is very stubborn Peterson had better get those contracts taken care of b4 training camp starts or were screwed

  14. You know what I know this goes against what Herm is trying to do but it would have been awesome if we would have picked up T-Rich instead of him going to the Jets. The guy may be getting up there in age but he can still block.I mean look what he did in Minnesota for A.P. and Chestor Taylor.

  15. I wish we could get Richardson back as our lead blocker but, yup herm has his own agenda!! I wonder if he really wants to win a super bowl or just remain a head coach in the NFL I want to see a complete 360 from our team this year and as for Carl peterson I think its time for him to hitch a ride out of town!!

    Comment by geniegene — June 28, 2008 @ 10:09 am

  16. Well I look at it like this. From last years team to this years team theres only one way to go and that is up. The Chiefs were at rock bottom in many statistics last years. This years draft regardless of the number of pics we had was great. Jamal Charels will be the steal of this years draft in a couple of years. I can only hope that Brodie can settle down and lead this team. I watched him at Alabama were he threw the most exciting catch in sports. Dont believe me look it up. He has the arm and feet; just needs a line in front of him. I did see promise last year when he threw some zips to TG and DBowe. I cant wait for this season

  17. I too am really stoked about this upcoming season I would like to see Bowe’s cousin play a little bit this year I think he can catch too!!

  18. Come on people by the time were ready for a super bowl T Rich will be to old and wont help us out. I agree he is and was awsome but we need to be young guys.

  19. This kid is a player! He played for one of the best rushing teams in the country the last 2 years. He is going to be LJ’s best buddy. Look at what he did for Spiller and Davis.

  20. Did LaCharles Bently sign with anyone. I think we should go after him. He could really help us at the center position and they could move McIntosh to the right guard because he is a great run blocker at that position with Richardson playing right tackle. The left side is set. I think Barry R was a big steal and will be a CHIEF for a long time.

  21. Hey ya’ll this has nothing to do with any signings but what is all the b.s. I’m hearing about strict new rules at arrowhead? I’ve heard stuff about noise and standing up and being drunk and all kinds of stupid shit. Is there any truth to it and if so how strictly do you think they’ll enforce it? I live in Charlotte so I don’t get the mostr up to date news.

    Comment by NCCHIEFSFAN — July 3, 2008 @ 7:06 am

  22. The rules are true they are on KC’s web site. No excessive standing, no foul language, no drunkiness, no shirts with explicit, or nasty stuff on it and the list goes on check it out, go to the top links on the page click on arrowhead link and scroll down to stadium policies it’s all there.
