Let’s hope this defense can play strong all 4 quarters, Were going to need them. If they step up and dominate they could help salvage what appears to be a long and dissapointing year. I have faith in Gunther, I think it’s his year to shine.

I was watching NFL Network’s America’s Game: 1985 Chicago Bears and Buddy Ryan’s defense which had been considered by many to be the best ever was the 46 defense. Why don’t Gunther bring that into play. We got new DT Glenn Dorsey, LB’s Demorrio Willams and Napolean Harris. Think about it. Hali and McBride lining up on the left side, Dorsey and Tyler in the middle and Johnson and Williams on the right side. Put Harris at MLB. Who’s this Pat Thomas dude plus Edwards is what 36 now. Talk about getting younger Herm. Anyway, if OL and FB’s block all 6 that free’s Harris. If someone takes him than who would block Bernard Pollard. He’s a hard hitting safety

We do look better defensively but I wouldn’t say we’re stacked at D-backs. I think we have good young corners but no NFL experience aside from Surtain. And what do you mean our down linemen don’t look better, I know we lost a big piece with Allen but the DT’s are way better so we shouldn’t get ran all over.

You also have to consider that Williams is a rotation guy who will come in for a tired Edwards and Pat Thomas and Harris will probably rotate evenly..Either way I believe we look a lot better on defense then we did last year aside from our down lineman, our defensive backs and linebackers are stacked.

Does Thomas playing with the first team actually say we have 5 potential start-quality LB’s, or does it say Harris and Williams really aren’t looking too strong at the moment? Thomas has little NFL on-field experience, so it’s near impossible for a fan, or anyone, to say for sure at this point.

Look folks Gunther Cunningham will be using different linebackers for different situations in a game. We have the most talented group of linebacker with 5 that can start. Gunther’s son has been pressuring him to use a 3-4 and we could see that or some 4-4 I hope I don’t give a crap who plays just because I know their name or just because they got more tackles than anyone else last season. I want the player who can perform the best out there I know everyone will get playing time regardless.

Edwards and Johnson are locked in. The others (harris, williams, thomas) are battling for the last spot.

If Pat Thomas starts at MLB, and Donnie Edwards and DeMario Williams start at the OLB positions, where does that leave Derrick Johnson? I thought he was our best LB?
