There was a lot of debate about which was the aberration, the record setting 12 losses in a row, or beating Denver and their sucky defense. Unfortunately the Panther game reaffirmed what most of us already know, this team is getting worse, not better, and Captain Herm “We Won, Right Honey?” Edwards of the K.C.C. Titanic is going to take us to much lower depths before this ride is finished.
Chiefs 0, Panthers 34
Last year I said this to the Herm Supporters, “Keep lobbying to retain Herm “21 Points” Edwards as a coach, and next year we will be adding to this list (of Worst Losses in Chiefs History).”
Sadly, I was proven right, again. Herm “I Just Tell People the Truth” Edwards now has three of the seven worst regular season, non-strike losses in Chiefs history, more than any other Chiefs coach, including Paul Wiggin.
1976. 45-0 vs Pittsburgh. Paul Wiggins.
1984. 45-0 at Seattle. John Mackovic.
2006. 45-7 at Pittsburgh. HERM EDWARDS.
1977. 44-7 at Cleveland. Paul Wiggins.
1994. 44-10 at Buffalo. Marty Schottenhiemer.
2007. 41-7 at Denver. HERM EDWARDS.
2008. 34-0 at Carolina. HERM EDWARDS.
Fortunately for Herm “The Team Comes First” Edwards, he still has 11 more games to go for the top spot. Way to go Herm!
The Chiefs had 127 yards of offense, their lowest total since losing 20-7 to Marty’s Browns in 1986. At least in that game, Kansas City was able get a touchdown.
EDWARDS: “I thought we started out OK.”
Everytime I think Herm “I’m Starting Rookies!” Edwards says the stupidest thing, HE KEEPS TALKING. That quote goes right up there with Steve Bono’s “I Felt Pretty Good”.
This was Carolina’s biggest home win and biggest shutout ever.
EDWARDS: “It’s puzzling to me. You play one week like we played against Denver and then we played like this. Same players. Same coaches. I’m puzzled.”
Apparently, Herm “I Am Not Dumb” Edwards drinks from his own Kool-Aid, because it’s not puzzling to anyone else.
EDWARDS: “I didn’t see that coming. We come in here and act like we never played before. It just wasn’t very good.”
Once again class, when a team is that inconsistent, IT’S COACHING.
35-year old Panthers wide receiver Muhsin Muhammad, outran the “youthful” Chiefs for a 47-yard TD. Don’t the Panthers know how stupid they are by playing that old, washed-up veteran? I believe Muhsin was a Dick Vermeil draft pick.
GONZALEZ: “That was the worst I have been involved with in my career.”
Good thing Herm “I Don’t Worry about the Score” Edwards didn’t let Tony set his record at Arrowhead, with his friends and family watching a huge win. It was much better to do it under a huge beating in Carolina so most of the highlight shows could completely ignore Tony’s accomplishment.
Miami and Atlanta had worse records than the Chiefs last year, yet they have been able to turn it around in one offseason and five weeks of regular season play. In case you are not counting, this is Herm’s third offseason and his 37th week of regular season play.
Hermisms
Press conference 10/8
Q: How concerned are you about the lack of sacks?
EDWARDS: “A little bit. Some, yeah. We don’t have many. We’ve got some hurries but not a lot of sacks. That’s something we’re looking at too. How do we improve our rush? How do we get pressure on the quarterback? Right now we’re not getting a lot of pressure with four guys.”
JD: Too bad you don’t have a 4th round draft pick who led the league in sacks. He might’ve come in handy in pressuring the quarterback.
EDWARDS: “A lot of things go into that. You have to blitz some, but you also have to play zone because you can’t leave the corners out there all the time in man-to-man coverage. It’s tough, especially with two young guys. But they’ve done a pretty good job.”
JD: Especially against Muhsin Muhammad.
EDWARDS: “We’re looking at different ways to try to put pressure on the quarterback.”
JD: I love how Herm “I Know That” Edwards tries to make things more difficult than they are, so to make it seem like he’s doing something brilliant and tricky. There are only two ways to pressure the quarterback: either your front four gets by their guy, or you send more rushers than they have blockers. It’s not that difficult.
Q: Is it just a matter of technique?
EDWARDS: “It’s just a matter of getting the right guys, especially on third down, were we’ve been not very good at all. We were very good last year, we’ve got to clean that up.”
JD: Well, what changed since last year? Oh yah, Jared Allen is not on the team! Can you believe that trading the NFL sack leader would lead to a reduction in quarterback pressure? Who knew?
Q: Does the lack of pressure illustrate how well the young corners have played?
EDWARDS: “Yeah. They have a lot of time to throw. That’s exactly right, you make a good point there. They’re holding their own. They’ve played against pretty good receivers thus far. They’re doing a good job.”
JD: Especially against Muhsin Muhammad.
Q: Do you expect to make personnel decisions based on what you see this week?
EDWARDS: “Not really.”
JD: 7th worst loss in Chiefs history, and the 13th loss in the last 14 games, yep, I wouldn’t make changes either.
EDWARDS: “It’s a young team and they’ve got to continue to play. When they play then they learn, then they have confidence about what’s there and how they play. I think it’s the point. Now after five games, I know what it takes to win.
JD: Uh, what the f*% did you just say?
EDWARDS: “Now after five games, I know what it takes to win.”
JD: Why doesn’t anyone in the media EVER call him out on the ridiculous BULLSHIT this idiot spews? Unbelievable.
EDWARDS: “We’re teaching them how to prepare every week with a great focus so that they can be a detail player. We break down too much, we have so many young guys so everyone takes a turn. All of a sudden bad plays occur.”
JD: I like how he says “all of a sudden”, like Herm “I Didn’t See that Coming” Edwards or the players have nothing to do with the bad plays.
Q: Do you feel like the team exhaled a little after the Denver win and didn’t appreciate how hard it is to win every week in this league?
EDWARDS: “Yeah, that’s probably a correct statement. You don’t know that because you haven’t had all these guys before and you learn something about that. I think they learn that too about themselves.”
JD: How can it be a correct statement if you don’t know? Why is it so hard for Herm “I’m Puzzled” Edwards to give a definitive answer on ANYTHING?
EDWARDS: “When you win a game, you can’t exhale, you never can. I think that’s a learning curve that they understand. You go into Carolina and have a slow start it gives you a rude awakening on how tough this league really is.”
JD: Slow start? Didn’t you JUST say after the game, “I thought we started out OK.” Movie productions have a Continuity Coordinator (not sure if that’s the official title), or someone to make sure what was filmed in take one is in the same place for take two. Herm needs to hire a Bullshit Coordinator to keep track of all the crap he says from day to day.
EDWARDS: “How mentally you have to be tough to understand you have to get through some rough spots. And especially on the road, where we haven’t played fairly well against New England, didn’t win the football game.”
JD: Haven’t you been saying that you did play fairly well at New England? Attention Bullshit Coordinator, clean-up on isle two.
Q: Are you looking for tackle Branden Albert to play next week?
EDWARDS: “We’re going to see. We’ll see if he can still practice. He’s doing some things individually, but we have to put him in team concepts of working. Hopefully next week he can practice and if he can, that’s a good sign for us.”
JD: Why do people even waste time asking Herm the Liar about injuries? For nine straight weeks last year Herm talked about Larry Johnson practicing and talked like he was just a week away from playing, but we all knew he broke his foot and there was no chance of his returning. If Heather Mills were on the Chiefs I bet he’d say she was close to kicking in game conditions next week.
Q: What are the main areas of emphasis that you are going to focus on over the bye?
JD: How about blocking, tackling, scoring, and preventing the other team from scoring?
EDWARDS: “Offensively, the three-and-outs are really not very good. Too many three-and-outs, not consistently driving the ball. The run game has sputtered some.”
JD: Sputtered some? Are you kidding? 35 rushing yards isn’t a sputter, it’s a freakin crash!
EDWARDS: “No big passes in the passing game. We’re not very consistent there.”
JD: I’m so surprised that you don’t get big passes from continually throwing to the running back in the flat. Who knew?
Q: Would you have hoped the offensive line would have gelled by now?
EDWARDS: “You would hope that they would be a little bit better, but there’s really only one starter that’s playing his position and that’s (G) Brian (Waters). The rest of them are all newcomers of they’ve been moved to different spots. The good thing about a bye week is that we can work on a lot of things and hopefully continue to get better.”
JD: Continue to get better? How about start to get better? You’ve been saying that line for two years now, guess what, It’s not working.
Q: Did making the playoffs in 2006 put off a year what you’re trying to do now?
JD: Holy crap, who asked this F’N question?
EDWARDS: “Good question.”
JD: Of course it is Herm. Seriously, who asked this question? Blob? Carl? Did Herm “We Have a Chance” Edwards ask this himself? Judas Priest! Dick Vermeil is not on the team anymore. Holy crap, get over it. Scott Linehan sure blew it by not blaming DV for his mess. He could’ve got two more years.
EDWARDS: “Some people say ‘yes,’ some people say ‘no.”
JD: Who says yes? Anyone not working for the Chiefs say yes?
EDWARDS: “You’ve just got to look at it at that point in time, that we continued to stay with the same team. This year we’ve decided to go in a different direction. I’ll leave it at that.”
JD: You definitely went in a different direction, no argument there. DV’s old, washed-up, free-agent vets took you to the playoffs, while your young, energetic, youthful draft picks took you on a Chiefs record 12 game losing streak. Herm is actually validating the free-agent band-aid approach used by DV and King Carl. Herm does this everytime, he thinks he’s putting the blame on someone else, but in reality, he is highlighting his own incompetence. Again.

Great as always. I had commented before that no analyst has even metioned Sqerms firing. He is such a good interview and a great guy…Ahhhhh! This sucks so bad. It’s like watching a guy beat a dog with a shovel on live tv. Screaming at the screen for sombody to stop it but no one does. There is just one guy in the background, arms folded and watching and nodding. There is nothing I can do. I just can’t watch anymore.
Comment by Habanero — October 9, 2008 @ 9:09 am
Great column, as always JD. My question is (obvious):
WTF does it take to get this moron fired? The number of negative records his teams have set in the last three seasons boggles the mind!
Seriously. 1-7? 1-10? 1-15? At what point does this jackass get his walking papers? How long can the owner of a professional team allow this to go on?
I consider myself die-hard, but if the Chiefs continue to wander aimlessly and stink it up this year and Clark Hunt does not bring someone else in here to run this franchise, I’ll give up my season tickets. That seems to be the only way to get the owner’s attention. They already got my season ticket money for this year, but now I’m committed to spending $0 at the stadium. I take the bus instead of paying the parking fee. Next year they won’t get my season ticket money either.
Comment by KC-Dave — October 9, 2008 @ 11:45 am
KC-Dave,
Um…hello? Have you paid attention at all? They’re not going to fire Herm. Well not this year anyway. They’ve said all along that this year they are committed to rebuilding. To be honest, this team is as advertised…IN REBUILDING mode. I don’t get why people are so surprised. Past teams of the NFL have “rebuilt” and this is precisely what it looked like….ugly and embarrassing. I suggest getting used to it.
History would suggest that Herm has until the end of the 2009 season to show some improvement. If no improvement, you might see a coaching change.
Comment by chfsfan — October 9, 2008 @ 12:02 pm
Chfsan,
Uh…hello? 34-0 is not rebuilding, it’s a dismantling. Just because it was advertised doesn’t mean it’s acceptable.
We aren’t surprised, we’re pissed off. Herm is not competent enough to fix the mess that HE created.
As for past teams, Atlanta & Miami were worse off than us last year & are all ready better NOW.
If Clark wants to remain “committed”, fine, but he can do it in an empty stadium.
Chief fans can go through rebuilding pains. “Rebuilding” is not the problem. Herm Edwards & his lying incompetence is the problem.
Comment by Alex — October 9, 2008 @ 2:13 pm
Chfsan,
Improvement? The Chiefs have been getting worse by the day! I do not understand this. Herm must go!
Comment by Glen — October 9, 2008 @ 2:32 pm
I must agree with you all and am so dumbfounded that is all I can say right now ????????? Thanks Herm !!!!!
Comment by tkawk — October 9, 2008 @ 3:57 pm
Well Alex, if you got that figured out then you’re a smarter guy than me. Herm didn’t TRULY get to try his way until this year. I look at the Roster and I see 16 rookies. I expected exactly what we are seeing which is what Herm has said we would see. A bunch of inconsistent play and a lot of mistakes.
Now I’m not saying Herm is the answer. I’m just saying that I’m not convinced that he’s not….yet! He’s played 5 games with HIS group. I’m not going down the “Dick Vermeil Chiefs” road. I just think that Herm wanted to overhaul this team when he got here, but Carl didn’t want to. Doesn’t really matter the reason, but this is the first year of the rebuilding.
Herm has began implementing HIS plan this year. His system and his plans may fail. But I don’t think you can base an opinion on 5 games. Especially when the chosen QB has been out for 4 and a half of them. I think he should be given until next season to see how this whole thing shakes out.
As for the empty stadium. They’ll never be empty. Arrowhead has too many corporate ticket holders that will never give up their tickets. So basically, there’ll be some empty seats…no doubt about it, but Clark will get his money because of the season ticket revenue.
I want to see improvement as much as any of you do. I guess I’m just more patient. I’ve heard these SAME exact things said about teams over the last 30 years I’ve been watching football, only to see the team and particularly, the Coach become heroes when their plan finally works out.
Hang in there and ride the storm out people.
Comment by chfsfan — October 9, 2008 @ 4:59 pm
i can agree with waiting out the storm because the chiefs have been only defense or only offense not both my problem is we are putting all our pennies into a qb that is not going to pan out we have never been a deep threat team so why worry about a qb that can air out the ball all the teams so far that are ok are ones that work 3rd and short quick slants also we do need to get rid of herm now the play calling sucks not only is it predictable but how many screen plays do you think we can do with no passing game i mean come on every game 1st down we run to the right who cant defend us even miami had a better season last year they atleast tried to make it look good
Comment by rick — October 9, 2008 @ 5:20 pm
As much as i want to agree with you chfsfan, and i do agree about this being his team this year, why didn’t we do better last year with a team that made the playoffs the year before(i’ll be it by a miracle)?
but i digress, i think that it’s interesting that the two Missouri teams are at the bottom of the barrel, is it possible that crapiness is contagious? and if so, who caught it first: Chiefs or Rams?
Comment by Travito — October 9, 2008 @ 5:24 pm
I don’t believe anyone here is basing anything on 5 games. I for one am basing my opinions on 117 games, the number of games Herm has been an awful head coach in the NFL.
Even if we did accept the flawed “finally his team” argument, it still remains that he is an awful game day coach that can’t game plan or prepare his team. After 117 games, I don’t think 11 or 27 more is going to change that.
Now, back to “only starting rebuilding this year” load. How in the world does anyone buy this company line? How much more “rebuilding”, er destroying, could Herm have done in 2006 and 2007? They didn’t trade away draft picks. They didn’t blow up the cap with too many pricey free agents. All they did was draft, get rid of people, and pick up a bunch of ex-Jets that couldn’t find jobs. They’ve been continually casting off veterans each offseason. They already released T-Rich, Mitchell, Tynes, etc long ago. They traded Green, Hall, Sims, etc long ago. Really, what more would he of done that you say Carl “wouldn’t let him do”? Trade Allen earlier, when his value was lower? Or did they have to wait until his 26th B-day this April when he truly became “old”? What else could he have done to destroy, er rebuild? Sign a couple more college free agents in the off chance that one stuck? Even that last bit is doubtful, b/c Herm’s the one who also brought in a bunch of HIS free-agents that took roster spots, e.g. Law, McGraw, etc.
The only thing different about 2008 was that Herm actually admitted to “rebuilding”, traded away our best player, and got everyones expectations nice and low in an effort to save his job in the face of ANOTHER horrible season.
Hopefully Clark isn’t that naive.
There’s a difference between patience and stubbornness.
Anyway, great read JD.

seems like there’s always one that comes out. chfsfan, jake, whoever your are, guys like you make me sick. we have shown ZERO improvement since the edwards regime rolled into town. he knew he was overmatched and the best way to secure his job was to sell this rebuilding bullshit. i will not attend a game at arrowhead until herm is gone and someone competant has replaced him. i have NEVER seen an nfl team look so pathetic as the chiefs have in numerous games since herm has been here. i’ve been a fan for 40 years now and gone through some rough times with the chiefs but NOTHING compares to this crap. carl and herm have to go and the chiefs ownership need to realize this sooner than later. empty seats send a strong message and i believe that chiefs fans need to make a statement.
Comment by Mark — October 9, 2008 @ 6:22 pm
Well, i’ve read your posts and everyone makes some good points. I can agree with a lot of points. However, not to be rude, but if you guys are REALLY smart enough to have this whole thing figured out on how to make an NFL Franchise and instant winner, always draft can’t miss players, and never sign a free agent that is a bust, then you are definately in the wrong business. Just one question. Why aren’t you involved in the NFL? Are any of you professional football GM’s, scouts, coaches, equipment managers? If not…WHY NOT?
Look, I’ve done my part. I applied for a loan to buy the Chiefs, but my credit score wasn’t high enough for the billion dollar loan. So unless any of have better luck at getting a loan and buying an NFL franchise, I guess you’re at the mercy of Mr. Clark Hunt.
Good luck on that empty seat thing Mark. We’ll see how that works out.
Comment by chfsfan — October 9, 2008 @ 7:20 pm
Q: Do you expect to make personnel decisions based on what you see this week?
EDWARDS: “Not really.â€
My brother’s high school football team just played their 3rd game and got destroyed 35-14. Now you may ask, how is this relevant, well after that loss the coaches completely changed the personnel on both sides of the ball changing almost 13 starters in all. If a high school football coach can see something isnt working and make a change, why cant a so-called professional?
Comment by PJ — October 9, 2008 @ 7:20 pm
I don’t think you have to be a professional to realize when something is terribly wrong. For example, I may not be a CEO, or even in business, but I know what the Enron guys did was wrong.
Sometimes it’s important to question authority.
Comment by VLTC — October 9, 2008 @ 8:08 pm
Chfsfan,
Actually, when the team started tanking last year, Herm started with the “rebuilding” talk. So, just by listening to Herm himself, last year was his “first” year of rebuilding.
I for one consider his first year as his “first” year.
As for the “Why don’t you be in the NFL” argument so many like to throw when they can’t debate the facts, JD wrote about that a while back, you don’t have to be a chef to know when your food isn’t cooked right, or you don’t have to be a director to say a movie is bad.
I’m not a coach, but if I know the Chiefs will run a screen on third and goal from the 5, you can bet your ass that the Broncos know too. And they did since they stopped it. It doesn’t make me smarter, but don’t elevate Herm’s intelligence just because he’s a head coach.
Herm just said in post #13 he won’t make any changes. That has nothing to do with rebuilding, that has to do with his decision making ability. Just like VLTC said, this is about his incompetency in 117 games.
How is it Miami & Atlanta can turn it around quicker?
Comment by Alex — October 9, 2008 @ 8:26 pm
chfsfan- I was on your side about all of this until this season. If this team played the way it did ( with passion and pride ) evey game this season like it did against the Donks and were 0 – 5 instead of 1 -4 I would be completely at ease with the whole deal BUTT they have not. Rookies, colledge kids or pop warrner kids it does not matter they have no heart and no pride so fuckem! Pride starts at the top and runs down hill. You can make mistakes when you are young and learning and still have pride and passion. The young Chiefs do not. They DO NOT BELIEVE IN THE CAUSE!!!! You can not just quit because you are getting your ass handed to you. You have to keep fighting for you life. That will become a habbit in a very short time if it has not already. Meanwile if anyone wants to complaine to someone it wont help but e-mail address is PMoris@CHIEFS.NFL.com he is directer of public relations and he totes the current company line. REBUILDING and Herm has a plan and we all believe it will work. SHIT!
Comment by thawk — October 9, 2008 @ 8:50 pm
I too, can call 95% of their plays. If “I” can do it, a FKN NFL DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR can do it too. Great post Alex.
Comment by Jones — October 9, 2008 @ 9:17 pm
I wish I was a beat reporter for the Chiefs. I would ask Herm if he is “playing to win the game” or playing to “give young players experience”. What happened to young players learning the first year from experienced players. I know we don’t have many experienced players left to teach them. All these guys are learning, is how to lose. All of them are going to be begging to be traded at the end of the year, just watch.

i have to add this if we are only rebuilding why did we deny gonzo the te record at home against denver obviously he said he waqnted to win doesnt this contradict the rebuild coment also if gonzo is willing to put up w/rebuilding then why not honor him the record w/the home crowd and his family its a bunch of sh—t gonzo should have gotten that respect
Comment by rick — October 9, 2008 @ 9:47 pm
Speaking of the Bronco game, that should’ve been a bigger blowout. 2 first and goals and not one pass itno the endzone? WTF?
Herm’s wussy playcalling had us kicking FGs instead of scoring TDs. It should’ve been 14-0 instead of 6-0.
Had we had a bigger lead, Tony could’ve got the record.
This is all about Herm’s decision making. It has nothing o do with rebuilding.
Comment by Alex — October 9, 2008 @ 10:27 pm
chfsfan,
a couple of things i would like to point out to you….first off, you just dont put players out there to get “on the job training”. You give them training and then put them out on the field. The only exception to this rule is if you have an EXCEPTIONALY talented player, which most of our 16 rookies do not have. I am a business owner and know that you just dont throw employee’s to “the wolves” with out training. Otherwise you get bottom of the barrel performance. Who is going to “TEACH” these young players, certainly not any veterans!!
Second, miami is doing MUCH better this year. Why?? They cleaned house of GM, Coaches, AND players. See a pattern here?? This is what fans on this site are suggesting. Bottom line here is Herm’s coaching philosophy is flawed. Only truly crappy teams need to be completly overhauled. We did not have a crappy team when Herm arrived, but we do now.
just my 2 cents worth.
Dennis

You’re right, you don’t have to be a Chef to know when the food is bad and you don’t have to be a Director to know when a movie is bad.
The easiest job in the world is to sit back and criticize. Anyone can sit back and point out everything that’s wrong. I also see a lot of people offering solutions. However, I can’t help but wonder that if your solutions are fool proof, why in the hell don’t you work in the NFL?
I’d be willing to bet that a majority of the people that post have NO credibility in offering solutions. What I mean is this. How many of the people that have these wonderful ideas are actually in the field of coaching at ANY level? I bet it is a VERY SMALL percentage. And I bet that the percentage that actually have experience at the NFL level is absolutely 0.
Again, I’d suggest that if you truly do have a fool proof plan of building a winning franchise in the NFL, that you contact someone. Because bottom line is this. I certainly haven’t seen it in the 30 years I’ve been watching the NFL. If you know so much…write a book..you’re sitting on a GOLD MINE.
EVERY NFL team has drafter busts in the NFL. Every NFL team has signed free agents that were busts. Truth is, it happens.
I just get the impression that every one on here truly believes that they could do a better job than HERM. To you, I say GET REAL and get over yourself. You can’t. Most of you are like me. Just some poor schmo that works a job in a totally unrelated field to football. You are nothing more than a FAN of the game. You couldn’t do a better job than Herm, no more than he could do your job better than you.
Is there other people available that could do a better job than Herm? Probably. But again, I’m not the guy to make that decision.
I see names thrown around all the time. People want Marty or Bill Cowher. I’ve seen Brady Quinn’s name thrown around for QB. Hell, I wonder to myself all the time why the Chiefs didn’t go after Drew Brees when he became a free agent. But I am smart enough to know this. If I had the idea, I am SURE that the Chiefs organization had the same idea but for some reason didn’t pull the trigger.
Don’t you think that the same thoughts that you have, have entered the mind of Clark? I’d bet they have. I mean the guy has more information than YOU will ever have. For whatever reason, this is the course of action he has chosen.
I’ll say it again. You’re a passenger on this ship. You are at the mercy of the helmsman..Clark Hunt. Get used to it.
Comment by chfsfan — October 10, 2008 @ 9:13 am
The bad thing about Herm Edwards tenure is he will probably be around until the end of the 2009 season. Clark Hunt is basically a spineless wonder who will not back up his assertion of last year that he expected the team to compete for a playoff spot in the 2008 season. He will give Herm “time to finish the job he started” and “for the team to gel” and to work with “the new quarterback” next season. Geeez! We still have a whole bunch of losing to suffer through before this team can even think of beginning to repair the damage which has been done by Herm Edwards. After Herm’s departure, it is really going to take a great coach just to clean up Herm’s mess!!!!!

We have to trade Larry Johnson before Tuesday. It will not completely fix the team but it’s time to let Kolby Smith and Charles play more. They would do just fine as a tandem. Also, Herm Edwards sucks because he walks the sideling with a headset on and never talks into it because he’s not really a coach. He just wears it for looks because I imagine people got on his ass for not wearing one at all last year. All of the good coaches are extremely in touch with their team and communicating not only with the players but with the coaching staff during the game. Herm just likes to walk the sideline and have the best seat in the stadium. He needs to stop pretending he is a coach.

I do also agree with what you are saying, for the most part. The only part i dont agree with is that Herm knows what he is doing. Herm is an idiot. Head coaches are supposed to be leaders. Herm is not the man for THIS team. Herm does not even know which direction to turn. Proof is to listen to him talk and at his news conferences. The man talks in circles. I dont own or have anything to do with an NFL team like you suggest. But on the other hand I am not an idiot. I dont like to be spoon fed a bunch of crap and told it tastes good. Most teams in the NFL do not need to be completely overhauled, as is said with the chiefs. Most teams continue to recruit and groom players for the future little by little. How much time is enough time to give Herm and his staff.
Just remember this, the Chiefs orginization is a product. We as fans are the consumer of that product. We are the “Customers” of this orginization. Most of us are just sick and tired of the “product” we have been presented, and do not wish to spend our hard earned money on this sub-par product. This doesn’t mean we are less of fans than anyone else. As consumers our dollars should do the talking for us. Just like if you got crappy service at a resturant or any other business, would you continue to patronize that business?? Even though you have a friend at that business, or loved it in the past?? You would try to let the management or owners know that the service has slipped to a sub par level. I think this is the point that we are trying to get across to Clark, or anyone else that will listen. WE ARE NOT HAPPY WITH THE DIRECTION THIS TEAM IS GOING. I realize as most people on here that we as individuals are not going to change anything, but as a group maybe our voices will be heard. I just long for a team that i look forward to watch on sundays. I dropped my season tickets this past year, and boy am i glad. I got an email from the chiefs ticket office this past fall and they said we could be reinstated and have our choice of where to get our seats, all but lower level side lines, including club level openings. We tried for 5 years to get lower level tickets to no avail (we had upper level seats). Now all of a sudden there are multiple openings?? That tells me that there were alot of people that didnt renew their tickets!! HMMMMM I see a pattern here. People are voicing their dollars. The ONLY good thing with the situation we are in is…….there is only one way to go…..up!!

You act like Jared Allen was the greatest thing to happen to us….Whats his production been so far this year? 2 sacks and 3 pass defense. We’ve got 3 sacks as a team with multiple FF in our favor from our line. And Albert is holding up well for a rookie LT that played LG in college. AND we got 2 3rd rounders from them too right? Jamal Charles and DuJuan Morgan being those picks. So we add depth to the Secondary, depending on Page’s ankle this could already help us, and we get a break away speed guy to compliment Johnson. I don’t see where it is more beneficial to have allen in this situation…granted there is no way to know if we would have taken dorsey or traded down for o-line if we did not get rid of allen, cuz allen and dorsey would be a dominant force for sure.

Allen may not be lighting it up yet, but he literally has an INFINITELY higher sack rate (2) than both our current starting DEs combined (0). There’s no stat, but I’d be willing to bet he has more QB pressures than our DEs, too, since we’ve had next to none.
Our front-four pass rush is the worst I’ve ever seen and it’s killing our defense as a whole. Our defense is 30th in the league in yards right now…

Well you are 4 out of 5 on your preseason predictions…but i am a little disappointed that you were not close on the Carolina score (lol). But in your favor…….who would have guessed we would have beaten Denver at home?? You should be 5 for 5. Cudo’s for being that close. I predicted 2-14 for season. I could be right, but I just dont know who else we can beat.
Jokes on us…….lol

Hilarious! Great post as usual JD. You make me smile through all this BS. I’m particularly fond of how you call Herm out when his comments literally don’t make sense. You said “What the f_____ did you just say”! That’s good stuff, do me a favor next time. I know your not above name calling so next time we hear something like that, use a line we have down here in So. Cal when blondie at a party is rambling on and ask, “What the F____ is this bitch babbling about?” Keep up the good work and look for my Fire Herm and Carl sign at the San Diego game. I should be close enough to our bench for Herm to hear my angry voice all game!

Thanks again JD.
You do such a great job ripping Herm it really makes me feel like I don’t have too. God knows I’m tired of saying the same thing for three years, but at least now everyone can see and admit that the hermperor, indeed, is naked.
My favorite line was ‘We started out OK.”
Yes. We ran for minus yardage, sacked and fumbled… then an incomplete screen in from our endzone. Is that somehow close to how it was drawn up? Probably… Herm ‘Clock killer” edwards got 40 seconds off the clock. Now we can trade every REMAINING player so Herm “It’s not my fault” Edwards can say:
“Well we don’t have any players from that last team. We’re starting over.” as if he was left nothing but trash. Amazing how other, better, coaches turn teams around in 1 or 2 seasons.
Also… Damian McIntosh has whiffed his first pass block in EVERY GAME THIS SEASON! WHY is he on the field? Why was he starting when Albert was healthy? We should have had Herb at RT. Herm “Offensive line needs chemistry” Edwards doesn’t even seem to regard putting the best offensive linemen out there.
Heh, I could come up with nicknames for this guy all day. Nice Job JD, I’m not going to be able to stop now.

Here’s a link to some Herm Edwards offensive players for the future. I believe they will fit in perfectly to Herm’s “Devistation Plan”……..oops, I mean “Rebuilding Plan”. Estero has the type of scheme, playcalling and young players Herm is looking for. They won’t “score too fast” putting too much pressure on the defence, nor will they be “pass happy”. Here’s the link
