[Kansas City.com] For the third time since becoming a Chief, running back Larry Johnson is in a scrape with the law.

Johnson faces a December date in Kansas City Municipal Court on a charge of simple assault. The municipal violation, filed early last month, stemmed from an incident on Feb. 24, 2008, in which a 26-year-old woman accused Johnson, 28, of using his open hand to push the left side of her head, according to court and police documents obtained by The Kansas City Star.

According to the court records, the incident purportedly occurred at 2:15 a.m. at a nightclub at 3832 Main St.

Johnson’s lawyer, Kevin E.J. Regan, said Monday that his client had done nothing inappropriate and expects to be vindicated at trial.

Regan said an intoxicated woman did throw herself at Johnson that night but was restrained by security. He said his investigation also shows she did not make any complaints to the management, security officers or police, who were at the club that night. And even after she reported the incident to police 11 hours later, police observed no injuries, Regan said.

If convicted, Johnson could be sentenced to up to six months in jail and a $500 fine.

Johnson emerged from his two prior legal incidents without convictions. In 2003, he was accused of aggravated assault and misdemeanor domestic battery for allegedly brandishing a gun during an argument with a former girlfriend.

Those charges were dropped the following year after he agreed to enter a domestic-violence diversion program.

In 2005, a woman accused Johnson of pulling her to the exit of a nightspot on the Country Club Plaza and pushing her to the floor after an argument.

That woman later changed her story and insisted that she did not want to press charges against Johnson. Prosecutors dropped the assault charge after she missed three court hearings.

According to a municipal court spokesman, Johnson is scheduled to appear on the charges at 1:30 p.m. Dec. 3.

    3. Obviously we don’t have much information, but this one sounds more like someone trying to make a buck off someone famous than anything I’ve ever heard… well except that whole Duke lacrosse scam.

    7. …and people wonder why I hate this piece of trash so much? Even if he is not guilty, what is he doing out a 2:15 in the morning besides looking for trouble?

You know what, I was single and his age once too, but, I never came close to having the kind of money this guy has, so if he doesn’t have it by now, at 2:15 in the morning, if he is going after it, he deserves exactly what he has gotten…TROUBLE!

    9. Hey, you know what is really funny about this whole screwed up thing? I am going through my emails trying to delete stuff that I no longer need to keep and I came across a response from a buddy of mine to a question I asked him about the Chiefs from back in March of this year, based around conversations I was having about this very same schmuck!

      Here is the information!

Chiefs Could be Done Signing Free Agents
      March 4th, 2008 @ 8:54 am; ChiefsWarpath.com
[Kansas City.com] If you blinked over the last few days, you might have missed the sum of the Chiefs’ activity in free agency.
Coach Herm Edwards indicated Monday the Chiefs could well be finished signing players. If so, that would leave former Atlanta linebacker Demorrio Williams as the entire free-agent haul for a 4-12 team that lost its final nine games and has desperate needs at cornerback, wide receiver and several offensive-line positions.
“If we don’t get anybody else, that’s OK,” Edwards said. “What I don’t want to do is go out and get a guy, any guy, just so people think, ‘Well, they got somebody, so they must be doing a good job in free agency.’ No, that’s not what we’re going to do. If that guy can’t help us win and he doesn’t fit what we’re doing, we will not bring him in here. That would be a waste of our time and a waste of his time.”
Edwards said the Chiefs had no free-agent visitors Monday and no visits scheduled for later in the week. They have three vacancies on their starting offensive line, at least one at cornerback and one at wide receiver, and Edwards said the Chiefs would load up at all three positions in the draft.
“There are a lot of good offensive linemen in the draft,” he said. “We’ve got 10 picks and we’re evaluating the guys who would be a good fit in our system, and we’ll get some good offensive linemen.”
In addition to signing Williams, the Chiefs met with Buffalo tight end Michael Gaines, who instead signed with the Detroit Lions. They planned to visit this week with Dallas cornerback Jacques Reeves, but he joined the Houston Texans.
The Chiefs never even got that far with their two top free-agent priorities: former New Orleans center Jeff Faine and former Seattle kicker Josh Brown. Neither agreed to meet with the Chiefs before signing elsewhere, Faine with Tampa Bay and Brown with St. Louis.

The problem with this logic is that there are too many holes to fill, even with the ten draft picks. You can not possibly tell me, Mr. Peterson and Mr. Edwards that a bunch of rookie offensive lineman are going to be able to block well enough for Brodie Croyle to stay on his feet long enough to get the ball to either Tony G. or D. Bowe or God know who you are going to draft to compliment them.
If that does not happen we are back to square one, Larry Johnson, if he stays healthy, which is now in question…
Face it gentleman you screwed the pooch, you should have traded LJ when you had the chance! He will never be the player he was, and he will never play out that contract extension, why? Because at the time when you should have been thinking about the team, you went and drafted a guy like LJ in the first place. NO CHARACTER, all the guy did since day one when he was drafted by the Chiefs was complain. First it was that he was a Chief, then no playing time, then not enough playing time, then too much playing time then not enough money and then he signs the big contract and gets hurt! Look back through all the records, if I am wrong call me out!
Mr. Peterson used to be a guy of integrity, but now he just wants to hire his friends. As long as his “friend” is the Coach of the Chiefs, unfortunately, I doubt very seriously the Chiefs will win a playoff game, because this guy is Marty ball X ten!

I deleted all of the other comments that were in there to protect the innocent so-to-speak, but, as you can see from my comments, everything I was saying back then, I am saying today!
