[ESPN.com] Chiefs coach Herman Edwards benched Larry Johnson for Sunday’s game against Tennessee for violating team rules. Now, Kansas City’s star running back soon might incur additional punishment, this time from the NFL — and for different reasons.
During the Chiefs’ recent bye week, Johnson was involved in a physical altercation with a woman at a Kansas City nightclub, sources told ESPN — the second such late-night incident he’s found himself in this year. The incident is consistent with a pattern of off-field behavior that league sources expect will lead to a suspension for Johnson under the league’s personal conduct policy.
It’s unclear whether or not Johnson has been or will be charged in the incident.
“It’s just a matter of for how long,” one source said.
The Chiefs acknowledged Johnson’s latest troubles.
“We are aware of the most recent incident involving Larry Johnson and we are very disappointed with his involvement,” team president Carl Peterson said in a statement Sunday. “We will cooperate fully with the Kansas City authorities who are investigating the matter. We have also made the NFL office in New York aware of the incident and officials there are conducting their own independent investigation.
“Based upon the NFL Player Conduct Policy, we will have no further comment.”
League spokesman Greg Aiello declined comment Sunday.

IF Larry did do this, it is time for him to go. He is a talented Tailback, but he has complained the entire time he has been in KC, and this could be the third time he has been in trouble for domestic abuse or assault issues. We can’t have young players doing this.
As far as the F’ the Chiefs comment, thats BS. We need to support the team no matter the record. They are still our team. Nothing worse than a Bandwagon fan base such as the Patriots, Colts, etc.. We obviously have problems, but we will be good again in a few years.

As a member of a professional league, Larry should not even put himself into a situation where an incident or allegations of an incident can occur. Look. I was born a Chiefs fan and I will die a Chiefs fan but being upended the way we are and having a Pacman Jones for a RB, an Al Davis for an owner, and a Scott Linehan as a coach just doesn’t sit well. I can’t help but to think “fuck em.” Yeah I will put on my Chiefs gear every Sunday and pray to God that we don’t get embarassed but I’m still pissed…that I know we can ALL understand.

I agree with Nick. Chiefs ownership couldn’t care less about the fans. Hell we put of with Peterson for 21 years now and what have we got from it. Total disappointment, that’s what. Herm is the worst coach in NFL history and it’s time to change NOW!!!! The Rams made the change and look at them, although I think that they’d have killed the Chiefs before they made the change. I can’t believe how many of you are sticking up for this organization who has taken our once pround franchise and turned it in to the laughing stock of the NFL. LJ can rot in jail for as much as I care anymore, he’s a punk and doesn’t deserve to wear the Chiefs uniform again. I was hopeful at the start of the season, I even thought that Brodie was going to be a great QB if given the chance and I thought that LJ was coming back with a vengance… but the worst possible situation happened… SUCKS!!!!! Never thought I’d say this… but LJ probably has to go at the end of the season… we should not release him though, we should try to at least get something for him… although we’re going to loose a lot with the bonus cap monies that we would have to pay him if he’s released…
