[Kansas City.com] The Chiefs announced Friday that they have exercised their one-year option to hold training camp at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls in 2009, the site of the club’s camp for the past 18 years.

However, Chiefs president Carl Peterson said the club may shift camp to Missouri Western State University as early as 2010 pending the passage of a $25 million state tax credit proposal which will be determined when the Missouri Development Finance Board meets on Tuesday in Jefferson City.

    1. As a Wisconsin chiefs fan, I will be sad to see this tradition go. However, I do see that it makes more sense to keep training camp closer to home for the team.

    2. TD47- I feel for you

On the other hand we need this team to train here in Missouri! Why train in a different state and enviroment, it’s definitely not beneficial for the team.

AND! what about the fans!? People in this area pay a lot of money on tickets and Chiefs merchandise. We want to see our Chiefs practice. It is very inconvenient for Chiefs fans to drive or fly to Wisconsin to watch practices. Also there are hardly any Chiefs fans in Wisconsin- HELLO THE PACKERS!!!

I have always hated the River Falls tradition. Train where your home is PERIOD

    3. P.s. we are one of the only teams left to train in another state.

    4. I have been to River Falls Three times for camp. All three were extra enjoyable for my family. Plenty of other things to do and when we did go to camp you could enjoy it because there wasnt 10,000 thousand people there. Camp in Missouri will not be as fun for the fan that wants to get autographs and eat dinner at the same places the players go after practice. We got alot of quallity time one on one with players and coaches at River Falls. Great Location. Having it in missouri will just bring out the band wagon fans. It will not be as fun for the true blue fan. Leave camp in River Falls. The town has supported the chiefs for years. TRADITION!!!!Something we need to keep.
