[Kansas City.com] Adam Teicher reports that Pro Bowl tight end Tony Gonzalez would like to remain a Chief next year, but that he would probably ask for a trade if a coaching change is made this offseason.
“As far as I know, I’ll be a Chief next year,” Gonzalez said. “Depending on what Clark (Hunt) wants to do, if he wants to blow this whole thing up and bring in a new coaching staff and bring in a new coordinator with that and bring in a new quarterback in the draft, that all weighs into whether or not I want to be a Chief next year.”
“As far as I’m concerned, as a veteran on this team going into my 13th year next year, the last thing I want to hear is ‘rebuild.’ I’m not into it. If they come in here and they want to blow it all up, I’ll be frustrated and I’ll be a little (ticked) off.”
“There are some really good coaches on this staff. I want Herm back, I want (offensive coordinator Chan Gailey) back. I want my position coach, Jon Embree, back. These guys are going to take us in the direction we want to go.”

i think we should deal Tony G for a 2nd or thrd pick and rebuild the staff!!!

WHO CARES WHAT TONEY WANTS ITS NOT IN THE BEST INTREST OF THE CHIEFS TO KEEP HERM,SOUNDS LIKE TONEYS JUST BEING SELFISH FOR HIS OWN PERSONAL STATS.

geniegene..
You want us to deal Tony G for a 2nd or 3rd round pick…
ARE YOU INSANE?!?!?
This dude still plays at the most elite level and nothing will change next year, he will still do the same thing he did this year.
He should retire a Chief. We need to keep him happy because without him we wouldn’t have even won those 2 games we did or even have been close in the 5 or 6 other games. He just had a 1000 yard season and broke all the records man get a clue!
Comment by RednGold4LIFE — January 2, 2009 @ 9:46 am
Ok, right after I blast Geniegene, a dude with the same name as me says something almost as stupid.
Tony G is the most unselfish player we have. How the hell can you say he is selfish!!!!!! If he was he would have been like Larry and said he was already out of KC dumbass! We will get extra picks from Larry because he is obviously gone now. WE NEED TONY G!!!
Comment by RednGold4LIFE — January 2, 2009 @ 9:49 am
Tell em Tony!!!
Comment by Tammy H — January 2, 2009 @ 9:49 am
Mr. G is betting there is about to be a coaching change and just wants out of KC. I bet if he really thought Herm was staying he say he wanted out another way.
Comment by ed f — January 2, 2009 @ 10:28 am
I agree with Tony. We should keep Herm so that Tony will have a hundred catches next year and we can still finish 2-14. Come on Tony you are starting to sound ignorant and when Tammy agrees with you I know your way off base.
Comment by mark f. — January 2, 2009 @ 12:42 pm
Herm Edwards deserves one more year and if he can’t get it done then he needs to get out. So i’m with tony on this one do not get rid of the coach. Get rid of larry johnson, so we can get even more cap space, so that we can go sign albert haynesworth and julius peppers
Comment by Travis S — January 2, 2009 @ 12:51 pm
Keep the O-Coordinator and position coach and get rid of Herm. Then everyone is happy.
Comment by J Rock in Texas — January 2, 2009 @ 12:57 pm
Make sure we draft a QB. Thigpin may turn out to be like Derek Anderson and Tony Romo. Have one good season and suck after that.
Comment by J Rock in Texas — January 2, 2009 @ 12:59 pm
And if Thigpin turn out to be good then we slap the franchise tag on him and use him for trade bait to get more picks.
Comment by J Rock in Texas — January 2, 2009 @ 1:00 pm
I was for getting rid of Herm. Not Anymore. Give Tony what he wants, maybe he see’s something some of us do not. Afterall we were close in just about every game we played. We are just missing a few pieces on defense, and we need some offensive line help on the right side. I will say this- If we keep Herm and Tony G leaves anyway I’ll be one pissed off bastard.

Comment by ChiefsFan — January 2, 2009 @ 1:56 pm
J Rock… wtf man.
You want Thigpen to be good so we can franchise him and trade him??? We are trying to find a good quarterback man why the hell would we trade one that we finally have produced (kind of because Minnesota had him first, whatever)
That logic makes zero sense.. we would be back in the same s**tty place we already are providing he is our QB and is good next year.

Comment by Chris — January 2, 2009 @ 2:45 pm
Herm may not be the best coach and sometimes not even a good coach but, he does have the team with him and he’s brought in a lot of fresh, young talent. He needs 1 more season to fill in the rest and sorry Gun, but you gotta go. We made strides on offense and our defense fell apart, that’s why we only got 2 wins this year. Draft offensive line, defensive end and at least 2 LBs, that will give us a start.
Comment by H20 — January 2, 2009 @ 3:26 pm
Another thing, people like geniegene, Chris, ed f, mark f., and Nick should all shut the F*$K up and learn a bit about football and the Chiefs before they’re aloud to speak!!!!!
Comment by H20 — January 2, 2009 @ 3:33 pm
well stated H2O!! maybe we dont think Herm is the answer, but obviously a PRO BOWL caliber tight end has seen something that we fans,(not players), cant see. And truthfully we were in just about every game we lost this year, yes we lost them, BUT a young team improving every week, is a better way to start off next season than st6art6ing from scratch again. I hate to say it but GIVE HERM ONE MORE YEAR!!
Comment by hardcorefan — January 2, 2009 @ 4:16 pm
All in favor then! HERM STAYS! 1 more year sounds reasonable and fair enough to me.
Comment by Chief Tom — January 2, 2009 @ 5:01 pm
H2O- pay no attention to those idiots at the top of the page. That one guy Chris can’t even spell Tony right. Hey Chris! Tony G is going into his 13th season and you don’t know how to spell his name BY NOW?!
By the way we NEED Tony G next season guys. If that means Herm staying then Herm stays in my opinion.
TONY GONZALEZ IS THE PULSE OF THE CHIEFS!!!

Comment by Dave S — January 2, 2009 @ 5:28 pm
Tony wanted out because this team was a huge joke early in the year. HERM was the reason why the offense was so piss-poor don’t you get it? Give the offense to Chan and see what happens?? Herm is a terrible offensive mind but if Tony wants him here then he does some things right. Tony doesn’t lie about s**t because he is the best there is so why the hell would he have to cover up for someone who sucks? Doesn’t make sense..
If Tony seems some light at the end of this dark tunnel we are in right now then we need to roll with him. He IS our damn franchise people wake the F up who the hell are the Chiefs without Tony G!! He is too damn good and knows how to play football better than anyone. We dont need younger guys anymore we need leaders. You don’t find a better leader than the most stand-up and classiest guy in the ENTIRE LEAGUE.
Comment by RednGold4LIFE — January 2, 2009 @ 7:03 pm
Personally I think we should keep Herm on the team. Last year we were getting blown out all season. We may have lost more this year but there were only a few games that we got slaughtered in. We are getting progressively better and I think it’s because of Herm rebuilding the team with youth. We may not be a contender this next year, but who knows about the year after. Give it one more year and then i’ll be right with you guys on Herm’s firing line.
Comment by Travito — January 2, 2009 @ 7:06 pm
So what if Herm has some players on his side? The man is a joke. Herm is a known commodity to Tony and he simply does not want to go through the whole drill of learning a new offensive system. Keep Chan, fire Herm, problem solved. If Tony can’t be a man and handle that, bench his ass until he grows up. Sheeeesh!
Comment by The Hammer — January 2, 2009 @ 7:10 pm
What in the hell is going on here guys and gals? We are all one in the same aren’t we? We’re all CHIEFS FANS! Why all the damn hate like a bunch of high school kids? Everyone is trying to sound smarter than the next. I think all of your points are valid, but the fact remains, it will be C.H.’s decision. Not ours.
Now onto my opinion about Tony’s statements. I am hard pressed to believe that it is out of selfishness. But, look at the facts. Since Chan Gailey took over the offense, Tony’s catches went through the roof. Since Thigpen came in, Tony’s number improved even more. So I can see where it looks selfish that he wouldn’t want to change O-Coordinator or QB. Yet, look at it from this angle. T-Gunn has never been a selfish man. He’s been quite humble from what I’ve witnessed over his 12 year career here. Like most of you have said, he probably does see something we as fans don’t, or can’t. I’m on the fence about Herm, I can’t lay everything that’s happened to the Chiefs on him, because our young players have pulled some bonehead moves on the field. We are a young team and us as fans need to realize that. The Chiefs need our support now more than ever, and if we can’t stop bickering amongst ourselves and cheer on the red and gold. Then we really will lose our beloved Chiefs.
Thank you,
Brandon Powers

Why all the name calling and cursing? We’ve been giving our opinions all year. Tony G is entitled to an opinion too.
Comment by Jeff in VA — January 2, 2009 @ 8:35 pm
Deal Tony G. for a 2nd round pick geniegene? Are you retarded or just blind? Pick one, cause we couldnt trade Tony for even a 3rd rounder let alone a 4th. Teams were giving us crap in return. Im sorry, but look at Tony’s stats and the team we had overall. For Tony to put up those kinds of #’s right now, he is still worth a 2nd or 3rd rounder. The lower they go, the more picks they better throw in.
Comment by Marques — January 2, 2009 @ 8:42 pm
Well, I think another 2-14 season would weed out some more fair weather fans. Herm Edwards is a loser’s loser. He is the top of the heap, cream of the crop, “A” number one, best there is loser. The bickering is about gettin’ Herm’s ass out of here, the sooner, the better. Bonding happens when humans go through adversity together, and this miserable Chiefs season is no exception. Some players can’t see the forest for the trees, and have a misplaced and nonsensical loyalty to Herm. The only thing Herm staying will accomplish is to make Tony G. and a few others happy while tanking another season by going 2-14.
Comment by The Hammer — January 2, 2009 @ 8:48 pm
Ok HERM stays we win 4 games tony wants to be traded or retire at the end of the year. He is at the end of his career. So what another wasted year. CHIEFS need to start winning games herm is not a head coach. Bring in a new coach its only 2nd year with this yong team.just look at MIAMI,ATLANTA and RAVENS ohya thier in the playoffs.
Comment by KP IN AZ — January 2, 2009 @ 11:40 pm
chief tom,
you have flip floped enough already. last week you wanted herm out of here, two weeks ago you were wanting him to stay for one more year, one month ago you were calling everyone who said a bad word about herm dumbasses. now that tony wants herm to stay, you are on that bandwagon too. you change your mind more times than a woman. what a moron. tony is at the end of his career. we need a coach that is not a dumbass. get rid of herm and let tony go if he wants to pout.

Dear Clark,
Please fire Herm so I can come over and coach in Kansas City. I’ve never told anyone before, but the Chiefs are my favorite team. And Tony would much rather play for the Eagles anyway.
Looking forward to coaching the Chiefs for many years to come.
Love,
The Weasel
Comment by Mike Shanahan — January 3, 2009 @ 12:35 am
chief tom,
Tony wants Herm to stay because Tony is the favorite target of this inept offense. It’s obvious that Tony doesn’t care about winning but his own personal hall of fame stats. In case he didn’t notice we are rebuilding now and we’re rebuilding with quite possibly the worst coach in NFL history. I have never swayed from my stance on Herm being a terrible coach and if he isn’t fired I will stay away from Arrowhead and watch the mysery on tv in the comfort of my home. I hope that the empty seats the last couple of games sent a message to Clark.

Let Herm stay, let Herm go….. I am at the point of I don’t care either way.
But, as much as I love Gun it is time for him to be replaced, with who? I don’t know…..maybe some up and coming young defensive guru from the college ranks.
I think our offense is very close, if they can just put 2 halves together. D-Bowe needs to quit dropping passes, we had enough of that with Parker. We need that dominant WR to play opposite Bowe.
Our defense needs, and I say NEEDS Haynesworth…..no if’s ands or buts.
We need a dominant defensive end, with one Hali will be okay on his end of the line.
This team isn’t that far away from being more than competitive and once again, respectful.
Comment by Kansas City Krusher — January 3, 2009 @ 10:58 am
Guys, simply put…No amount of Tony G’s on a football team are going to make HERM better at clock management!, Play calling, 1/2 time adjustments, Tony G (as much as I love him), Found an “Out”, he’d been looking for 1 since early in the season, I can’t blame him!, Herm HAS to go, ANY, and I mean ANY! gm that has 1/2 a brain and actually watches football will see that herms HCing skills are “lackluster” to say the VERY least! He will be gone and so will the greatest TE to ever play the game! But those ends are also New Beginnings!
Comment by KCFan58 — January 3, 2009 @ 11:26 am
“chief tom is [NOT] a dumbass”:
Your statement “…you change your mind more times than a woman…” was it geared towards me?!? Wow! Obviously mark f is stroking my ego, but you too?!?!
Hey…since we won’t be watching our beloved boys in red this weekend, take a little time if you can and watch a highlight reel of Tony’s career here in KC; on and off the field. We knew back then when we got him that he was going to be THE tight end of the future and boy, were we ALL right and then some!
Aside from that, it’s even more credible for him to say what he’s saying AFTER that debacle at the beginning of the season. The media loved going to him after he stayed put, just to see him talk smack about the team…and then half way through the season, he surprised us all and said basically that even though our record doesn’t reflect it, we ARE a good team and we ARE improving. That was awesome.
He sees things that we see and much, much more. If anybody else came out and said what he said about Herm yesterday, I don’t think it would be as credible…but for Tony to say it?!? You know, Tony says whatever the hell he wants…if he thought the coach(es) sucked, he’d say it, he’s not in fear of getting benched or traded…he’s basically tenured, he gets away with whatever! Why would he BS us? The personal crap just doesn’t add up, he’s not all about that; he could go anywhere and be the stud on ANY offense. He doesn’t need us, we need him. Respect that?!
Could it be possible to place your negativity towards Herm aside and have FAITH that Tony knows more than we do? Could it be possible to trust Tony? Tony Friggin’ Gonzalez, not just any yah-hoo, but Tony Friggin’ Gonzalez. Trust in our best player! Tony must think we can be im the playoffs the next few years, he’s made it QUITE clear that he wants to play for a contender…well guys, that’s US!! Faith, next year…next year…
To ALL my fellow chiefs fans: Happy New Year! Welcome 2009!

Alright. Let me break it down. Maybe I should have said “We need to draft a QB in the first round.†We shouldn’t put all our money on Thigpin (or ThigpEn). I remember San Diego had this guy by the name of Drew Brees or something like that (who is in a great system in N.O). He was an alright QB at the time he was in San Diego before they drafted this guy by the name of Phillip Rivers. Rivers sat two years and and learned behind Brees and didn’t turn out to be that bad and Brees left with San Diego freely. You can say the same for Marc Bulger (Undrafted) learning behind Kurt Warner. Dante Culpepper learning behind Randall Cunningham. The list goes on and on. I just don’t want to end up like the Dallas Cowboys with Tony Romo. Thigpen can only run a collegiate style offense. That will not cut it in the NFL. We all see what happens when he line up under center. In a big game, if he can’t line up under center, then it will eventually hurt us. Matthew Stafford is the guy I would go after.

Herm is an idiot!!!! if he was even a decent coach we would have won at least 50% of the close games we were in last year. how many “worst” records does herm own!! tony only has a couple of years left. quite frankly, i lost some respect for tony when he pulled that crap midseason. so if he chooses to ask for a trade because of coaching changes, then so be it. Herm needs to go!!!!
last thing, i would LOVE to see tony retire as a chief. but i cannot go through anymore seasons like this last one, and i am also afraid if the stadium does not fill up any more than it did this year, the franchise would entertain a move to another city.

I was at the game Sunday. My face has freezing wind burn (feels like a sunburn) and my lips are badly chapped. Man, I had a scarf for the game but my friend had a freakin’ seizure on the way to the game and it was on his seat, needless to say he pissed on it (during his seizure of course). I had to call an ambulance and follow them to the hospital, but after a 2 hour detour we both made it to the game barely in time to freeze our asses off and to watch them lose. It was still fun to watch our offense go to work that game though.

Please post another tidbit of news so that we may comment on it! This Tony thing isn’t even about the Tony thing anymore!!! It’s a little too ugly guys…We’re not debating our opinions, we’re debating grammar. Simmer down now:-) The friggin’ Chargers knocked out the Colts, and I don’t know whether to laugh or to cry!!
Moving on…The Dolphins…How sweet it would be for Chad P. to go all the way. (it’s sweet enough already with him in the playoffs and not the Jets!) I mean, to get released for Brett Favre, and then to go on to sign in the same division, WIN the division, and go to the playoffs…wow, that’s karma or something:-)

I thought this was funny by Chief Tom. This goes to show that he changes his mind more than a woman and is a follower……First he posts….
KC Chiefs Forever 58 is right. What the hell “IS†going on here. We are on the same side, but it’s like a Red Nation divided. Some are saying stay the course, and others are calling for a change. I’m sorry about the name calling on my part.
I love my Chiefs Red Brothers and Sisters! CHIEFS FOR LIFE NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS.

Oh man, you are such F*CKING IDIOT!!! comment number 49. The team isn’t going anywhere for 25 years. Also why would Chiefs ownership add on to the excisting Arrowhead at a cost over well over several hundred million dollars to the Hunt family and the good tax payers of Jackson County just to change their minds and move the team to another city?! HAVE YOU LOST YOUR MIND???
Obviously you haven’t been a Chiefs fan for very long or do not keep up with team news.
ALSO, HOW CAN YOU LOSE RESPECT FOR TONY GONZALEZ?!!!
You need to do some research before you call me a dumbass, DUMBASS!

Tammy, go take your medication and quit pulling your hair out. If you’re soooo stressed out by reading the comments, go away. You’re way too much of a tree hugger. It’s ok, we’re big boys and we can handle a little mud slinging. It’s part of being a fan. You remind me of the 1st grade teacher in Billy Madison who eats the glue during recess. It’ll be ok.

Tammy H. I guess I got frustrated while looking back at some of the posts and saw that Chief Tom has been taking cheap shots at me all season. Nothing against no one else. I was just trying to expose the guy for what he is. An undercover Raiders and Bronco fan trying to divide the Red and Gold Nation.

dbowe82, ex-squeeze me?!?
I thought we were in this together brother, but I see; you’d rather antagonize all the crap! It’s easier for you to target me specifically than to post something of more substance, okay, we got that.
If it appeases you to make me out to be that kind of chic, go right on with it. I think I’ve held my own with most of you and even though we don’t always agree, I think we respect one another when it’s all said and done. Slung a little mud myself and wallered around in it too! I think we all respect one another when it’s all said and done. Go ahead, tell yourself that I’m that crazy teacher on Billy Madison, then you can feel a little better about yourself. Nothing wrong with that my friend.
To the rest of my brothers who side with him, sorry for thinking it’s a little friggin’ much…you know, getting off track from the original post and resorting to grammarical arguments and digging in the past, etc. J Rock, it’s all good~~see ya next time around (if we ever get some more NEWS!!)
I wanna talk football, not typos and bullsh*t. Sorry.
Speaking of…So much for Chad P. going all the way, but he sure got farther than the man who replaced him. I still can’t believe the AFC West went for 8-8. Unbelievable.
Peace??!? (tree huggin’ question)

Tammy H, I’m with ya. I just came in here to voice my opinion about the post. I thought that was what this was for. Chief Tom has been taking cheap shots at everyone all season long all while changing his mind about supporting and against Herm. That reminds me of Elway 7 and other Bronco and Raider fans coming into a Chiefs post under a different name trying to start arguements to divide us. I know everyone is entitled to their opinion but I try to keep everything professional. Like I said, looking back at some of the post just took the cake with this guy.

J Rock,
Emotions run high on this site, that’s what keeps me coming back. Have I posted on (shall we say) more ‘courteous’ sites? Yes, but this one, as nuts as it gets, is full of passion for our boys, and I got the fever too.
I know what it’s like to be t-totally in that zone when writing on here…been there/done that. It’s all good.

Happy New Year to all and only way is up this year (hopefully).

Everyone is going to argue about everything until we start winning. If Thigpen can develop more and feel comfortable under center at least half the time, he could be the real deal. All he really needs to do is get that part of his game going and work on his accuracy and then we have a damn good and quick QB. That is going to take a hell of a lot of work though. I guarantee you that if Herm is here he will NOT take a first round QB unless he is pushed to do this by the new GM.
You can tell the team wants Tyler next year, but this spread/pistol bulls**t is not going to cut it all year again. Its too mistake prone when its run all the time. Did anyone care to notice how fast defenses caught onto our BS after half-time? UHHHHH its called adjustments. If Herm knew how to make them we could come out after half-time with a more contemporary offense and let Larry pound the ball more – a counter to the defenses adjustments against the spread… HMMMM
Every time Herm says well we didn’t make plays when we needed to… blah blah blah. YOU HAVE A TEAM OF ROOKIES AND FIRST YEAR PLAYERS YOU JACKA$$! They are not going to make huge plays all the time you have to be a f**king man and be accountable for being a sh**ty situational coach.
Make adjustments and counter their adjustments. This is football you whiney b**ch take some responsibility for your inability to make the right coaching decisions.

NEW YORK — Bill Cowher doesn’t plan to coach in the NFL next year, and will stay with CBS Sports as a studio analyst.
Cowher
Cowher was recently wooed by the New York Jets, but said during “The NFL Today” on Sunday that he’s taking it “year to year.”
“It’s a privilege and an honor to be a head coach in the National Football League,” Cowher said. “And I have been flattered about the attention, but the timing right now is not right. I don’t plan on coaching next year.”
The Super Bowl winning coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2006, Cowher took himself out of the running as a candidate for the Jets job on Dec. 30. He also was a candidate for the vacant Cleveland job, but asked to be taken off the list.
CBS Sports will broadcast the 2010 Super Bowl in Miami.

Here is an example of my loyalty to the Chiefs for people that accuse me of being a fan of another team (J Rock). I go up to Arrowhead every year from my hometown of Joplin, Mo. (2 hours 15 min. south of K.C.) to watch games whether the Chiefs are doing good or not so good. This year being their worst year ever I went to see the CHIEFS play the dolphins a couple of weeks ago despite their horrible record, but I don’t care because I love my Chiefs and jump at the chance to PAY (even though a lot of people wouldn’t pay for tickets for a 2-14 team) for tickets every time my buddy sells his tickets (season ticket holder) if he can’t make it to a game. So me and Gary, friend of mine (we are both members of the Red Death Society) went up there. On the way there as some of you already have heard, my friend had a seizure and I had to pull over near Peculiar, Missouri to call an ambulance from a gas station at about 8:30 to 9:00 am. I get to the hospital (after following the ambulance for some distance) and wait for about 45 minutes until I can see if he’s doing alright. Well, he’s dizzy, but is back to normal somewhat and has I.V.’s in his arms. He’s saying to the nurses “we got to get going, we have a Chiefs game to get to.” They release him at around 11:00am. We rush up to K.C. and we are there in time. We have a few mixed drinks in the car, bundle ourselves up to prepare for the -12 degree wind chill and march into the best place in the world, and indure the coldest game I have ever been too. That’s saying something too because I was at Arrowhead in ’88 (when they played on turf, also I was 8 years old) when they played against San Diego when it was about 10 degrees, and then another really nasty game on Christmas Eve 2005 when it was not only blisteringly cold but it was sleeting on everybody (we won that game).
Hey J Rock, if you don’t believe that I am a hardcore Chiefs fan go to Gate F, section 30, row 20, seat 26. I’ll be there next year for a few games (my buddy the season ticket holder always hooks me up every year at least a few times). Never question my loyalty again for I have been with the Chiefs sinse I was just a Lad.

I’ll take that as a compliment. I would probably do the same if someone called me a Bronco or Raider fan to my face. For the record, the Kansas City Chiefs were the Dallas Texans at first. I root for them because my dad was with them when they were the Texans and he still root for them. I’m from Dallas. Home of the Dallas Cowboys and I catch grief every year from all my family (Cowboy fans). My dad and I try to make a game every year but I wasnt able this year because my ship (U.S. Navy) is on a six month deployment.
On a different note. You sound mature on post #76. I understand that everyone is not going to agree on an article. Thats what make this website fun. But singling people out and calling them ASS WHIPE and BUTT MUNCH is unnecessary. Lets try to have legitimate conversations on here and approach the off season, the draft, and next season like adults and leave the name calling to the animals in the wild. So if you dont want to talk anymore, then cool. No offense taken. PEACE.

This is the Hunt’s football team not Tony G.’s. I love Tony but enough is enough. I’m sick of his ultimatum’s. I think we should ship him no matter what. Let’s trade him to the Lions and he can watch us in the playoffs with Stafford or Bradford throwing TD’s to Cottam.

I say we keep Tony, sign a DE in the off season along with Haynesworth and go after Rey Maualuga out if USC.
I feel like this team isn’t all that far from being respectable again.
Also, jumping out there and getting another big time WR won’t hurt either…..c’mon Clark, spend some money.
Comment by Kansas City Krusher — January 5, 2009 @ 2:37 pm
Trade down and get Maualuga from SC and or Crabtree!

Chief tom, after watching that fiesta bowl last night i was thinking the same thing. He’s got a hell of a first step, and that’s exactly what we need. I just can’t get dbowe and crabtree out of my head as our receivers. Give them a couple years and they could maybe be like fitzgerald and boldin for arizona. Wishful thinking i know.
Comment by dbowe82 — January 6, 2009 @ 4:44 pm
Oh ya, and tammy, sorry for the rude comments, they were out of line and you’ve been nothing short of sweet the whole time you’ve been here. I can get a lil too fired up when it comes to the chiefs. I’ll simmer it down.
Comment by dbowe82 — January 6, 2009 @ 4:45 pm
i dont believe we are far at all from being respective we only got blown out four times this past season. We lost seven of our games due to lack of fourth quarter. Give Herm another shot, we also had half our team being rookies and second years, so you cant expect a whole lot of consistency. We cant have 22 adrian petersons on the field. I dont know, maybe look at getting a special conditioning coach before your concerned about a head coach trying to put a football team together and i dont give a damn what any of you all say but ive been a season holder for about seven years now and i say that those boys did pretty good out there this season, forgetting about the losses they had. Stop arguing against each other about what you thinks right, i know the coaching scheme is a little off right now, but dont let the fans be as messed up too.
Comment by vigil — January 6, 2009 @ 5:00 pm
vigil, “i say that those boys did pretty good out there this season, forgetting about the losses they had”
I’m gonna be nice, i just don’t understand these fans that disregard wins and losses. To quote our pistol offense coach, “you play to win the game.” I don’t give a damn what you say, you don’t make the playoffs by feeling warm and fuzzy about effort. Fact of the matter is we fell apart in almost every second half of almost every game. That’s because we got out coached.
Comment by dbowe82 — January 6, 2009 @ 5:54 pm
vigil i agree that those boys did a good job this season, but think about it if they had a real coach. not a nice guy. hey the lions started to play good toward the end of the season and it wasent because of the coach its because of they were tierd of LOSING.
Comment by KP IN AZ — January 6, 2009 @ 9:44 pm
I want tony back as much as any Chiefs fan. But he was ready to cut and run more than once this season. Herm has an excuse for every loss and every stupid decision made. So I don’t really expect to Tony to stick around regardless of who is coaching next year. If the going gets tough, Tony’s gonna get going. If we are going to compete and ever have a chance at at another playoff birth or a Super Bowl we are going to have to get rid of the “excuse for everything” attitude of Herm and replace it with the “MUST WIN” attitude of, God willing, Bill Cowher.
There is at least one solid TE we could pick up in the draft (MU’s Chase Coffman).

Just because there is a new Head Coach does not mean Tony has to go. This new Head Coach might know how to work with Tony, I mean who would not want Tony after all he is the best in the NFL to trade him would be stupid. As far as Thigpen he really connected with Tony and I would hate to see all of that go to the waste side too. I would say that Beau made more mistakes when it came to Thigpen throwing to him rather than it being Thigpen’s fault.
We need a new Head Coach and to keep Tony!!!! Let’s give Thigpen another year if we can live through this year we can live through another year and then possibly pick up a new quarterback if necessary we do need a back up quarterback though. I believe for right now Thigpen can get the job done.
Herm has been given enough time in my opinion and we are just going down hill, not getting better like we should be.
