[Kansas City.com] As they wait on word of Herm Edwards’ future, Chiefs coaches are beginning to scatter.

Defensive coordinator Gunther Cunningham was scheduled to speak soon to the Lions about a coaching job. Detroit’s new head coach, Jim Schwartz, and Cunningham worked together with the Tennessee Titans during the three seasons between the time Cunningham was fired as Chiefs head coach and rehired as defensive coordinator.

Two other assistant coaches were hired by other teams last week. Secondary coach David Gibbs and special teams coach Mike Priefer accepted identical jobs, Gibbs with Houston and Priefer with Denver.

    1. Gibbs gone, Priefer gone!! THANKFULLY!!! Now Gunther possibly gone, wooohooo. Chan Gailey is the only one that deserves to stay, and not as head coach. Don’t know who said he’d make a good head coach in another article but he wouldn’t. As for Herm, I don’t know. This could drag out for awhile but it needs to be in place before the Draft, thats for sure. Oh yeah, and Marty, Cowher, Shannahan, and Gruden are not going to be coaching in KC, bank on it. Pioli ain’t that dumb.

    2. Who would want Gruden anyway? Chucky’s superbowl team was built by Dungy. He was handed that ring and hasn’t done squat since.

Shannahan can’t win without a hall of fame QB.

Cowher already said he’s not coaching this year.

I think Herm will get his chance to stay, so prepare for another rocky season Cheifs fans!

    3. granted gruden did have dungy’s team for the superbowl, but the raiders also made the superbowl that year, so you can argue that whoever the raider’s coach was at that time had gruden’s team in the bowl

    4. I can’t believe Denver was dumb enough to take Mike Priefer. That guys SUCKS, thanks Denver!

    5. does anyone know when the senior bowl is? we better have our coach situation figured out by that time. right now, im guessing that we’ll have herm for another year.

    6. Now, if some small town high school would be dumb enough to hire Dick Curl as a coach….

    7. I really don’t think losing our secondary coach was a good thing guys… the secondary played pretty damn well considering no pass rush all year long.

Losing Gunther and the other guy? Big deal.

This is not looking good though if Herm stays, coaches are being swept up by other teams every day.

Pioli needs to made a decision and do it fast!!!

    8. we are going to end up with Herm simply because we are taking forever to make decisions and there is basically no one left to hire.

    9. There is some possible choices still out there. And I have to give Pioloi the benefit of the doubt. There are better days ahead of us Chiefs Fans just be patient and hold tight it is coming.

    10. I honestly belive Herm Edwards can still make the Chiefs a winner. He is a strong defensive coach who can rebuild the team through the draft. Just because he didn’t win with youth this year doesn’t mean he should be ruled out. There is no one who knows this team better and Herm is a good judge of talent.Scott Pioli helping Herm draft is a very dangerous combo.

    12. Michael D.
You say the same thing over and over on all of your posts. GET THIS THROUGH YOUR HEAD- TONY G. WILL RETIRE A CHIEF EVEN IF HE GOES TO ANOTHER TEAM, HE HAS ALREADY SAID THAT.
Also your post doesn’t make sense to me, try proofreading your comments before sending them.

    13. Whatever the case is, I hope they keep Thigpin. He did great considering the offense he did best in was put in week 5 of the season. Give that kid an entire training camp and maybe hire a good QB coach and turn him into the man. He is 1000% tougher than Mr. Glass, Croyle and he has already shown progress. I really don’t want to start over again at QB.

    14. Yeah, but he’s (Thigpin) only comfortable with the spread offense. AND WE NEED TO GET RID OF THE SPREAD OFFENSE!
