[Kansas City.com] Seven weeks after the season has finished, the Chiefs finally got around Friday to firing five of their assistant coaches.

Dismissed were position coaches Jon Embree (tight ends), Curtis Modkins (running backs) and Eric Price (wide receivers) as well as quality control coaches Mike Ketchum and Kevin Patullo.

It is unclear whether Chan Gailey (offensive coordinator), Bob Bicknell and Joe D’Alessandris (offensive line) and Tim Krumrie (defensive line) will remain with the team and work for new head coach Todd Haley.

Four members of Herm Edwards’ staff have already departed for other jobs. Defensive coordinator Gunther Cunningham went to the Lions, special-teams coach Mike Priefer to the Broncos, secondary coach David Gibbs to the Texans and quarterbacks coach Dick Curl to the Rams.

    5. If we could pry Bud Foster away from Virginia Tech, he would make a great defensive coordinator. His teams are consistantly in the top 5 in the nation on defense.

Did you read your post before submission???????

Brent – “IF CHAN GAILEY WAS INTERVIEWED AND CONSIDERED FOR THE HEAD COACH POSITION HE’LL PROBABLY STICK AROUND” I ask you How old are you exactly?

If he can get a head coaching position say somewhere else and was turned down he would stick around?

If he was offered the headcoach position in KC and was turned down would he stick around?

I kno he interviewed for KC headcoach, BUT THAT IS NO GARUNTEE HE WOULD STICK AROUND. The reason he would stick around is because the offensive players – Mainly the starters liked him. Tony is high on him and enjoys playing his style of football. If Tony is to stay, they would want to keep him.

Jeff in VA — February 15, 2009 – I agree with you big time there, But I do not see that happening

      Offense:

Frankly I believe our offense, at least the last half of the season, was not to blame for the majority of our loses. The defense ended up losing quite a few winnable games in 2008. I’ve long been a fan of Gunther, but he and Herm just did not see eye to eye when it came to defensive schemes. A new start in Detroit should prove productive for Gunther, given he can find any talent to surround himself with.

So with that said, I whole heartedly believe Chan Gailey should stay on as Offensive Coordinator in 2009. He was able to take Tyler “Getting Thiggy Wit It” Thigpen, and transform him into a respectable NFL QB. Thiggy is not your “typical” under center, NFL style quarterback, but he has proven himself as a viable option given the appropriate game plan. Don’t let our record fool you, we were a much more competitive team the last half of the season, rather it produced wins or not.

Combining Gailey’s knack for making something out of nothing, and Haley’s obviously offensive prowess, we could easily have a top 15 offense this year.

      Defense:

So what about our defense that ranked near the bottom of the league in virtually every statistical category in 2008? If we can find a Defensive Coordinator that is on the same page as Haley, that alone can only help this unit. Having Gunther “handcuffed” into playing Herm’s style wasn’t productive, and it obviously showed.

So who may be next? One name I’d like to throw out there is Romeo Crennel. What!? The same Romeo Crennel that just got fired by the Browns? Yes. Crennel has shown promise in the past, but as a Defensive Coordinator, not a Head Coach. Some people just aren’t cut out for leading a team, but that doesn’t mean he can’t lead a defense.

In his time as Defensive Coordinator with the Patriots he won three Super Bowls in four years. Not a bad track record. He has been a part of six different Super Bowls and has came out of top five out of those six times. Again, sounds promising right?

Crennel has worked with both Pioli and Haley in the past, along with Parcells and Belichick. He coached with Parcells from 1993-1996 with the Patriots and from 1997-1999 with the Jets. While with the Jets, Pioli was the Director of Pro Personnel (97-2000) and Haley was the Wide Receiver’s Coach (95-2000), so he has history with them. In 2000, Crennel became the Defensive Coordinator for Belichick in New England until 2004. Having both Bill Parcells and Bill Belichick want you as their DC is quite a vote of confidence.

Well that’s my first two cents. I hope I didn’t drag that on too long.

Ok Brent I accidentally misspelled numerous….

Yes, I agree please use spell check “i” should be “I”, any sentence that is started the first letter should be capitalized. Please see 3rd grade grammar for proper formatting of sentences.

Because you do a really good job of that spelling “numerous” as “numerious”. This is a fragment and should be fixed the word “that” is not required to be used in this particular situation.

Also on “kind Regards” since it is the beginning of a new sentence that should be capitalized also.

“Microsoft word” is consisted of two words not one. I for one do not care how a person spells or better yet the mistakes a person might happen to occur. Since you are so concerned to point out other people’s faults first hand, I will express my points as well concerning yours.

You on the other hand are very cautious with people’s spelling. Maybe just maybe you need to go back in the 3rd grade for basic classes on sentence structures and formatting

A simple fix would be microsoft word’s feature “spell check”. Look into it. let me know if you have any questions.

Looks like you are the fool. You are more apt to give criticism then heed by your own faults.

As always this is a post to post not for proper grammar, but do to certain people this happens to be a grammar police site.

If you do not mind, I would like to talk about Ka nsas City football, instead of proper grammar etiquette.

    21. Spazzy McSpazzerton the Spastic Spaz,
i use shorthand. apparently you do to. you also apparently ride the short bus. i didnt correct your grammar. i corrected your spelling and apparently you dont read too well. “but do to certain people…” thats “due”. and “Ka nsas City football”… you guessed it, Kansas is still one word (unless obama changed that today too). my point is you are hyper-critical of others statements but are just an ignorant person in the first place. shut your mouth, stop typing, sell your computer, and become a donkeys fan. we cant have trash like you supporting the Chiefs.
